Budget Travel - Key West Best Bet?

I know it is not the most budget destination but I'm hoping to find a few suggestions for a couple of days mid to late May.

Hostel? B&B? Something with a pool, and something CLEAN.

The hostel in Key West, well, it's there, and last time there about two years ago it was about 30 bucks :eek: I was lucky and while getting stuff from my car a woman approached, and asked if I was looking for a room. Wasn't really, but the prospect of a single non-shared room appealed to me, especially since I've stayed at the hostel before, was NOT impressed by the hostel.

Been to Key West many times, stayed at the hostel a few times, only got to stay at this sublet once. YMMV.

The first time there stayed at Southern Cross, right on Duval. They are still there, reasonable by Key West prices, though no pool IIRC. The beaches aren't exactly South Beach, but they are clean, so if you want to swim, that's a good alternative. If you want to hang by water, also a good altenative.

Other than that, even in relatively low season, nothing cheap in Key West that I know of :(

Now for the sad part. Last time there a Hooters opened up, and it's just getting more, um, more gentrified :eek:
