I've been wanting to buy one one of these bad boys ever since they premiered at $1k. Now that Costco has it on sale for $250 (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11245222) I'm picking one up. Major downsides seem to be USB 1.1, but if I'm just loading up my SD card, I'll just use a USB 2.0 card reader. Apparently the newer Nuvi models have better (and larger) screens, but the small size is nice for travel.
According to a recent FT thread, this DC to USB adapter (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10826&cs_id=1082602&p_id=3523&seq=1&format=2) is a useful accessory, as the charger that comes with the Nuvi is supposedly bulky.
My only other concern is my desire to sync contacts (via bluetooth) with my Verizon-provided LG VX-8300. I know that Verizon used to disable bluetooth data but I'm not that's still the case.
