Hi, Visiting LV from the UK to celebrate my wifes 40th birthday next month (Feb 08). Have booked a table for the night of her birthday at The Eiffel Tower restuarant as the idea of a table overlooking the Bellagio fountains seemed appealing and the restaurant itself sounded nice without being overly "fussy". Anyone got any opinions on this restaurant or any ideas for another restuarnt for a memorable romantic birthday meal? :)

Welcome to Flyertalk! You will find that most Las Vegas Strip hotels offer a variety of restaurants almost all of which offer very good to excellent food and service. Even your hotel's 24-hour "coffee shop" will have a depth and breadth of menu selections that might surprise you. You might want to look at The Michelin Rated Las Vegas Restaurant (http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=761988) thread if you haven't already.

I have not had the pleasure of visiting the Eiffel Tower restaurant, but I try to visit the Paris Buffet whenever I can. The other "view" restaurant in town is the Stratosphere Tower. Probably the Eiffel Tower would be the better choice.

You might try a non-view restaurant for your second meal.

My sister recently reported on an excellent lunch at the eiffel tower restaurant. It doesn't get as much "buzz" as places like Joel Rubuchon or Guy Savoy, but I've heard it's very good and consistent.

For a little noisier, but still excellent meal, you might think of Bouchon at the Venetian...very tasty!

I eat there about once a year. The food is done well. I don't consider Chef Joho to be a culinary revolutionary, but you can expect excellent french cusine with empahsis on the Alsace region. The views are nice. The elevator opens into the kitchen area where you can watch them preparing entrees. I always recommend you get there maybe 15 mnutes early to enjoy a cocktail at the bar.

We were tempted to go to the tower restaurant for dinner during one of the nights of our visit last month as it was recommended by one of my colleague who had dined there before but one my friend and his GF who traveled with us wanted to have a steak appetite for the Prime at the Bellagio (the hotel we were staying at) and went with that option instead. But regardless, will make the effort the next time we visit.

Food is above-average, but not spectacular. The view, however, IS spectacular, especially at night. We like to take friends there for drinks at sunset.
