Gaming Loyalty Programs - Harrah's (HET) Diamond now 11,000 Tier

Per harrahs.com

To qualify for DIAMOND status, members must earn 11,000 Tier Credits in a calendar year

which now translates into :

$55,000 Coin-In for Slots
and
$110,000 Coin-In for Video Poker

and, anyone's guess ;), with regard to Table Games.

I just went to: https://www.harrahs.com/TotalRewards/RewardsAndBenefits.do?page=benefits
and this page (still) states 10,000 for diamond. It is possible that this hasn't been updated--where is the 11,000 number?

anything is possible :D

In post #1, the quote was a direct cut and paste from the website last week. IIRC, it was not updated everywhere, and not updated in the FAQ's.

It has been mentioned on a few other boards, so I'm not sure if HET has been slow in updating all the references to Diamond --- or if maybe they are rethinking the 11,000. Though, I don't really see much of a difference between qualifying with 11,000 instead of 10,000 tier. Sort of seems not really worth the effort to make such a minor change, IMO.

edit to add : seems that all reference to the "11,000" for Diamond is now gone from the website. This has also been verified by a few others. So, my guess, is that this was an error. Which, quite frankly, sort of makes sense --- since raising the requirement by ONLY 1,000 Tier Points seems hardly worth the effort.

Sorry for the "scare" or "false alarm" ---- :D:D

Something like 10k for plat 25k for Diamond, and 75K for 7 star makes more sense to me than the current thresholds.

Good lord, no! That would be an awful lot of $ to be throwing HET's way.

Baccarat King is right, its 11k for Diamond now. What a worthless change...

http://harrahs.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/harrahs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=739&p_created=1202161063&p_sid=oYTuILYi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9OCZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTEmcF9wdj0mcF9 jdj0xLjEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1kaWFtb25kI GluIGEgZGF5&p_li=&p_topview=1

But, if you managed to earn 10k TC's in January 2008, you're good for the year. But I imagine if you can earn 10k in a month, you aren't too worried about 11k for the year. :)

Interesting tidbit out of the faq: "Soon, you will be able to earn Tier Credits on your cash purchases for non-gaming amenities at all Total Rewards locations" Wonder how that is going to work? Will you forgo using your RC's to get more TCs? :D

Baccarat King is right, its 11k for Diamond now. What a worthless change...

Saw it again last week --- but, just thought I was going crazy (again). ;) Really don't understand why they would bother increasing it by just 1,000 tier.

I'm guessing that there will be a nice set of folks who don't pay close attention, do their 10,000 tier for 2008 --- and then find out after January 1st that the requirement was 11,000.

With regard to strategy, and HET, your best bet is to just do the entire 11,000 in one gaming day (at the end of the year, or better yet, in January). Then, you will qualify for Diamond, and the very strong gaming day will boost your theoretical and push out some nice marketing offers for the new year. Then, once the theoretical is up, you can book a number of trips for the year and play elsewhere while getting the benefits of Diamond (and the comp'ed pre-booked rooms); and allowing for the diversification of having multiple status (at HET +1 property).

Is harrah's the best for sportsbook comps?

What kind of bets are you talking about? In a nutshell, poker players and sports book folks are not regarded highly with respect to the comp game. You need to be looking at some major action to get a casino to notice your sports book play. (like moving $25K ++ in bets per day)

I just made Diamond In A Day at Caesars Palace last week.

I earned a little over 3,000 pts playing a couple hours of $5 JOB. My total points for the year are about 7,750, most of the excess earned playing high levels at table games. I have only stayed at a Harrah's property once ever, the latest trip to Caesars.

I am wondering, if, and when I might actually see a comped room or maybe even some freeplay from these cheap .......s!

I check the online account regularly, I already had an offer that ranged from IP free for the next three months, to Caesars discounted, with most properties free on Weekdays. Hoping to see some offers including so food and beverage and freeplay like I have always gotten for similar action from Wynn, Palazzo, and the MGM's.

Can you share more details of the DIAD at Caesar's -- what is considered the "day", who you spoke to to arrange this..... I am curious as I am considering trying this out next year but am still in the research/thinking phase so any further information would help. Many thanks!! and congrats!!

you can make Diamond In A Day at any Harrah's property. I happened to be staying at Caesars so I did it there, although Vegas is not the optimal place to do it. From what I've read Laughlin has a lower bet full-pay 50-play video poker machine which would be lower variance.

Nothing must be done to arrange this, you simply earn the 3,000 points and go to the Total Rewards desk and get your diamond card, it reallly is that easy. I did however confirm the hours in their "day" at Caesars as 6am-6am as this varies among properties. I also confirmed the number of points required as 3,000, then I earned 3,047.

I was EXTREMELY lucky to do this on a $300 investment on a 9/6 full-pay $5 Jacks or Better machine. I hit 3 4 OAK's early on and got numerous full houses, etc. Played 2 hours and cashed out $1,050 for a $750 profit. One could probably blow through $5K trying to reach diamond on those machines and not make it.

Now on a dollar machine it'll take you 5 times longer---10 hrs.....and the pay table is worse, but the variance will be lower. The multi-play in laughlin or reno would be worth the drive if you have the time----it could save you a few grand.

As for the Diamond amenities, the lounges I went to: Harrah's, Flamingo, Caesars, served hot snacks, top shelf liquor, in a nice environment. We bypassed a huge line at VooDoo and really felt like VIP's. Also the standard crap Harrah's treatment is completely out the window once you hand over that diamond card.

I have yet to see results on offers, but that always takes a month or two.

IME you're not going to get those offers online with Harrah's. You need a host for what you want. Contact a host and see what they can do for you but don't expect much (honestly if anything at all) since all you've really done is just the DIAD.

I'm only PLT, and I have all kinds of free room offers online (less so at Paris, even less so at Ceasars, but any other property is usually available to me). Plus, if I just do a reservation search on the website after logging in, I can pretty much get a comp room any day I want. I've booked 4 trips so far this year over weekends at 4 nights each - all comped. This is a bit of a contrast from years past when I usually could only get a comped weekend with a special offer - and even then, only for 2-3 nights.

my total Tier Score at the moment is 7,827, so in addition to the 3,000 for Diamond in a Day, I've earned nearly 5,000 tier points in 2009. So I'm about 3,000 points from earning Diamond in the normal fashion. What exactly would I have to "do" to have them consider that I've done something MORE than DIAD? Also those 5,000 tier points are spread across mutliple visits with no Harrah's comps taken.

Usually, it takes 2-3 months for tournament and room offers to appear based on previous play. BUT, you should probably be able to book a good number of free rooms WITHOUT an offer, based on your big day of play (completing DIAD). There is 'flexible' calendar which is very useful for checking on future comp rooms, that would be a good place to start; with regard to your overall COMP room situation for the next few months.

Harrah's is quite responsive to large days of play (i.e. the 3,000 tier you did for DIAD), you should get some tournament and free room offers; you just need to wait for the Harrah's system to cycle and update.

Let us know how things work out with the 'flexible' calendar room rates (just make sure you are logged in, before the search).

that's about what I was expected, similar to MGM-Mirage, Palazzo/Venetian response time for online offers.....i did try all the online options, flexible dates, etc and it must just be too soon after, still nothing add'l to my pre-trip offers.

If I have any issues I'll just call the big dog and ask about it:

One thing to keep in mind is that HET will also make discretionary offers based on your profitability as a gamer. If you played basic strategy JoB, you gave the house an advantage of approximately 1/2% on about $30,000 in play, meaning that your EV to Harrahs is $150. In other words, not as profitable as, well, just about anybody else.

Don't get me wrong, I think your idea is genius; back in the days that I got to casinos more, I almost did the same thing just for the diamond status. But the casino may not view you as a particularly good player.

I feel like Diamond at 11,000 is too low also. Diamond should be at 25,000 as the other poster said too and keep Seven Stars at 100,000. Just to update, tried the flexible date calendar and basically all dates are comped except occasional weekends up to the level of a Caesars Forum Deluxe. Still crappy comps compared to similar play at MGM-Mirage properties, where I've been receiving about 18 months of comped rooms (and I go monthly and always use an MGM offer even if not staying there) with promo chips, food, etc.

My MGM offers have slowly decreased over the past year from $3,000 promo chips to $250 freeplay as my play has decreased. I've had at least 5 zero play or very, very low play trips, probably more like 7-10.

In fact, I'll just paste the comp summary from my trip since April 08. During this time I've played just about everywhere and just about the same levels everywhere. My primary play is $275/hand BJ, but with plenty of $150+ spins of roulette, $5 VP and craps with lots of stupid carny bets included. I'd say my average has dwindled to $50/hand by the last trip as I try to retain bankroll for more frequent trips. Harrah's just blows compared to similar play at every competitor---just look at where I ended up taking offers, I was checking Harrahs the whole time.

Part of the problem with Harrah's AC diamond lounge is that it is too small--Caesar's AC lounge (much larger and overlooks the ocean) never (at least when I've gone there) has long lines.
But in Las Vegas, where the lounges are very small (at least compared to AC), there is rarely anyone in them (except from 4 pm to 6 pm, when you get chicken wings)--the rest of the opening time they have pretzels, potato chips, corn chips and dip (3 kinds), drinks are still free.:):):)
