Singapore Airlines is being sued in small claims court after the airline is alleged to have lost a supply of insulin handed over by a Vancouver woman escorting her elderly, diabetic mother to Sri Lanka in March 2006.
Sudharma Wijeyasekara is seeking about $9,000 in expenses and damages on behalf of herself and her mother, Jayaseeli Lokuliyange, 80.

Rule number one for insulin dependent diabetics on the road: Never, EVER hand your insulin over.

Rule number two: See rule number one.

The mother stayed 2 days without her Insulin?
I am sure SQ would have taken the mother to a doctor at the airport and he would have prescribed the Insulin to her.SQ would have gladely bought it.Medical care in Singapore is excellent.

In most states where I am licensed to practice pharmacy, you can easily obtain most commonly used insulins without a prescription. Most prescription insurance plans require it to be dispensed by a pharmacist though for coverage.

I hope the woman is okay!

This is exactly why some carriers will not keep your medication for you. Very sad indeed.
