Sort of a weird way to give away the prizes, but okay.
Hawaiian Airlines will hold a drawing for 250 free round-trip tickets to Manila on Saturday.
Entry forms will be handed out starting at 10 a.m. at Tamarind Park, located at the corner of Bishop and King Streets. The drawing will begin at noon. The drawing will include 20 first-class tickets.
Hawaiian will launch its new Honolulu-to-Manila service on April 14.
The state's largest carrier will plans to fly four weekly round-trips to the Philippines, with fares starting as low as $848.

Any clue as to why this particular location and method of drawing?

I don't suppose the free tickets would earn miles? :D

I think FT'ers would be first in line if they did. ;)
I wonder what the travel restrictions are (date-wise). Given the large turnout to get Colt's autograph (showing Hawaii people are willing to brave the elements and line up thousand strong) and the crazy mindset of Hawaii-people when it comes to free stuff, I think I might shy away and sleep in on Saturday.

Thats a pretty steep introductory fare. I would have expected some real discounting from HA.
Will they be using a domestic first seat for these flights?

I wonder if they're classed the same as an award ticket. In the past on hawaii-west coast tickets, I've gotten a coach award, then upgraded to first on the day of departure with cash, resulting in getting the miles for the segment.
You're right though, it will be crazy. There are going to be people camping out for free $800 tix.
But probably a good place & time to try and sell some Balut!
