Budget Travel - Paris to Frankfurt - Cheap?

I need to get from Paris to Frankfurt cheaply mid February and I don't see any of those cheap european flights and not sure how to get a decent train rate either. OW spans $252 usd for the train to over $600 via air. Suggestions?

Where are you looking for train tickets?

I was able to get a 59-Euro rate for Paris - Frankfurt on bahn.de . If I had been a little quicker, or wanted a different time of day, I would have gotten a 39-Euro rate.

You can also try voyages-sncf.com, keeping the web site in French and the country as France. However, you will likely get a ticket that you have to retrieve from a machine, and I was nervous about this. With bahn.de, I had the option to have the tickets mailed to me in Canada, and they arrived in pretty good time.

OW tickets usually cost close to a round trip fare. You can usually find round trip week-end fares that are far cheaper.

If you really want cheap you can get a eurolines bus for €24 but I would strongly recommend the €39 train. Flying just isn't worth it for a distance like that.

Just tried on www.expedia.de for Mid-February, this came up:

13-FEB 13:45-15:05 LH4219 CDG-FRA
20-FEB 13:30-14:40 LH4220 FRA-CDG

Roundtrip price all in: € 104,00

That's the best you can get, several dates are available.......

unless something has changed very recently they don't fly CDG - FRA
afaik only LH and AF do and with both you should be able to fly for 100€ return. the other possibility is the train which is quite fast these days.
