Central America - Need Advice: Guy's Weekend in Central America

Hi ...

I'm planning a 'guy's weekend' with a bunch of 30-something friends of mine for June '08. I've narrowed the search to Central/South America, and I'm hoping for a bit of advice. (Coincidentally, I'm headed to Costa Rica on a family trip in May, so that's out.)

Here's what I'm looking for ...

- Luxury (nice rooms, well appointed, lots of amenities) accommodations for under US$300/night.
- Beachfront.
- Pool with bar onsite.
- Casino onsite or nearby is preferred.
- Good restaurants onsite or nearby.
- General good atmosphere for a bunch of (mostly) single guys.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Great idea, Mikey, but this group did Aruba three years ago. I've been pitching a return trip, but they're all sketched out by the missing blonde. ;) We're currently thinking a Mexican destintaion, like Cabo or P.V. ... Or maybe Panama for the adventurous.

Panama or Costa Rica if you are looking for some adventure...

Costa Maya comes to mind as well...since its not overly developed at this point imo

Panama, though I'm not sure there's one property that hits on all the requirements. There are some fun hotels there. Look into the Decapolis...pretty hip hotel, skywalk to a casino, okay pool for the city, close to some great restaurants. However, it's not beachfront. There are a few other options (Intercontinetal on the beach, Bocas del Toro, etc), but the more beachy you get the less adequate it is for a guy's weekend.

Two other places that you could investigate is Dominican Republic and Cartagena, Colombia (much more adventerous...great hotels & women).

I'm a little confused. :confused: Just what is it you're looking for? Ladies of the night, gentlemen of the night, gambling, massage, drugs, general debauchery? Come on now, let's spill the beans. I grew up in a small town in Ohio and don't know about some of these big city vices.:eek: I'm headed for Panama and the DR soon and could report back if you could give me some clues!!!

Panama hands down. The Radisson Decapolis has everything you want but the beach. For beach you can still go to Decameron which is owned by the same people as the Radisson. They have beach, casino, bars, etc...

Panama City is the Las Vegas of Central America ;)

Don't leave Roatan and the Bay Islands of Honduras out of the mix. There is some very high end stuff there now and the west end can be alot of fun.
