Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - any experience with justfares.com?

Hi everyone,

I'm honing in on an RTW itinerary*, and getting quotes from some online agents, like Air Brokers Intl and AirTreks. JustFares's quote came in far below the rest. Others were $3650-$4300 (not including taxes), while JustFares quoted $3140.

I've heard good things about AirTreks and ABI and STA, but nobody seems to have heard of JustFares. Does anyone have any experience with them? $500 is a lot of money to not have to spend, but, for exactly that reason, I'm wary.

Thanks, and all the best,
Jake

* - The quotes are for the following:
Chicago - Accra - 4/20/08
Accra - Cairo - 5/08
Cairo - Dubai - 6/01
Dubai - New Delhi - 6/04
New Delhi - Jogyakarta - 6/20
Jogyakarta - Bangkok - 6/26
Bangkok - Shanghai - 7/15
overland to Beijing
Beijing - Seoul - 8/04
Seoul - San Francisco - 8/08/08

We used Justfares a number of times from 2000-2002 -- they did have some amazing deals. After that, they usually were unable to deliver on the prices advertised on their website, or didn't respond at all. I assumed they had gone out of business, and I deleted the site from my bookmarks a few years ago. If their prices are significantly better than the competition's, and if you can pay by credit card, I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

Thanks for the info!

They gave me a quote on Wednesday, and I responded with some questions, and they still haven't responded (it's now Monday). Makes me a little uneasy that, should something go wrong, my travel agent would be tough to get a hold of. So now I'm thinking of going with Air Broker's Intl, despite being quoted $500 higher. The agent is prompt and helpful there (thanks Kristina!). And if anyone's curious, while AirTrek's quote came in prohibitively high, the agent (Chris) couldn't be nicer.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. Safe travels all.

Just an update about JustFares:

After waiting for a response from JustFares via email for a while, I decided to call the office line today (1/15/08) and talk to someone. Basically, I don't know what happened on the email route, but the agent who answered the phone was terrifically helpful and we're going back and forth about itinerary options now. So JustFares is up and functioning. Since a few folks emailed me about the agency, I'll report back on how things work out with them once we hone in on an itinerary.

And thanks to all the vets who answer questions from new guys like myself. I've learned a lot perusing the flyertalk archives.

Thanks, and safe travels,
Jake
