I have just moved to HK and have two children at school in UK who will be flying unaccompanied to HK and back six times a year (at least). Is there any frequent flyer programme/airline that is best for this? Any tips much appreciated. Thanks

Schools in the UK have 6 holidays at least a week long. Plus sometimes some other long week-ends.

I would, in terms of airline, get them to fly CX, BA and QF and see which they prefer.

In terms of FFP, it usually makes sense to join the one that you fly the most (see above). It would also depend on which class they will be flying and if lounge access is important. I'm not sure if UMs get lounge access? I know in my day I didn't.

Note that they can join CX Asia Miles but not MPC so they won't be able to get status with CX. BAEC won't accept them into their FFP either unless you set up a household account.

If you are paying them in Economy, CX would be the best in miles wise.

I see. There are many school holidays in UK.

If the kids are going to have their own accounts and are flying Y, I think Asia Miles/CX is good for them as ny911 said.

Thanks for the tips. I will try them on CX for the February half-term!

Just a small catch though - no MPC status for minors.:(

I think BA also discourages unaccompanied minors. I think their fares are much higher as they force you to buy full fares before they will offer the service.

This is probably linked to their short sighted cost cutting. If kids have a good experience on BA while they are young, then they are more likely to choose them in the future, so it may be a bad strategy for them.

Yep - MPO is for over 18s only.
