Hi,
I am trying to find a cheapest way to travel from Santo Domingo (maybe SDQ or HEX) to Mexico. I am going to Villahermosa so best places to fly would maybe be Cancun (CUN) or directly to Villahermosa (VSA) ? Is there even any cheap companies flying from Dominican Republic to Mexico? Or boats?
Thanks,

Air travel in Latin America is still comparatively expensive. AFAIK, there are no air links at all between the Dom Rep and Mexico. Going via the US or Canada is probably not going to be that cheap either. Your best bet (airwise as I don't really know anything about boats) would maybe be (last minute?) charters from Puerto Plata or Punta Cana to CUN via Europe (and unfortunately I'm not even joking :()

On Spirit Airlines you can fly SDQ-FLL-CUN-FLL-SDQ for about $600.
You can do SDQ-MIA-CUN-MIA-SDQ for about $700 on AA.

Award redemptions intra-Central America are rather inexpensive. Do you have any frequent flyer miles that you could use?
Otherwise, AA, Copa, and Mexicana all publish ffares on this routing. There may also be LCCs operating this route. This might be a good time to do some research on the internet and then visit a travel agent. If they can beat what you find, their fee is warranted.

For a bit of an adventure, you can fly Cubana de Aviacion from Santo Domingo to Havana for 350 USD (on an Ilyushin IL-62), and then Havana to Cancun for 225 USD (on a Yakolev Yak-42). Take the bus onward to Villahermosa from there. Those are full economy fares, so a travel agent might be able to book them for a lower price, though I doubt it.
The flight timings don't allow a direct connection, so you would have to spend at least one night in Havana, though I would suggest spending more time there.
You can research and book these flights on www.cubana.cu.
You can also flyfrom Santo Domingo to Mexico City on LACSA via San José, Costa Rica for 430 USD - bookable on www.taca.com. This flight has an 8-hour layover in San José though, and you arrive into MEX at 21:55, which is a little late. I would continue on by bus or on Click, Mexicana's low-cost subsidiary (www.click.com.mx).
