Asia - Express Bus KL --> SIN reliability

I have reviewed some older posts regarding the express bus services(Aeroliner,Transtar, etc), but they tend to be in the opposite direction. My concern is whether an 8 AM or 9AM departure from KL will arrive in SIN such that I can zip out to the airport for a 4:15 PM SQ departure. The airline schedule KUL-SIN requires a 12:00 noon departure at the latest. Which means leaving from central KL no later than 10AM. Not a big time saver and a lot more money.

I’m taking a 2 day excursion to KL because 5 days in SIN is too much time there. But if the logistics of the KL excursion are too daunting, I’ll skip it.

Thanks in advance.

The major bus companies are generally perfectly reliable; however, traffic and border control conditions vary, and esp. on major holidays -- like Chinese New Year, coming up early Feb -- delays are not uncommon. But late morning/early afternoon for entering Singapore is outside rush hours, and given that you've got 8 hours to get from KL to SIN and the trip usually only takes under 5, you shouldn't have any problems.

you could fly to johor bahru. it appears the flight ain't the greatest in time (it leaves at 10:45 a.m.) but i'll bet it's cheaper than flying into singapore.

Are you suggesting that the OP travel KL -> KLIA -> Senai -> Singapore instead? I doubt you'll save any time or money, and it's quite a hassle to get from Senai (JB) Airport to Singapore.

If it's after Feb 1 - are you aware that low cost carriers are starting sin-kul?

I've found the buses to be generally on time - longest delay I've had on leaving KL was 30 minutes after scheduled time. Most of the big express bus services have numerous buses between KL and SIN each day as well, so they've got backups to roll out if required (especially for the earlier departures). Even if the weather's not that great, they still seem to make pretty good time down the Lebuh Raya to Singapore.

I have made the trip in both directionis a few times and in general, there is an over-supply of capacity that you will find a bus that will go. Once on the road it is a matter of traffic and even more of a Pandoras Box is the border. Just hope the bus isn't full of Indian Nationals, as it will have to wait across the border. I would say that it is rather reliable though.
