Asia - Access to KUL Airside Hotel?

My parents will soon be transiting through KUL, arriving in KUL in the afternoon (flying DPS-KUL on MH in 'C'). They wanted to go into town for a few hours, then return to the airport and spend the night at the Airside hotel, before catching their MH80 KUL-NRT flight the next morning (in 'C' as well, if that makes a difference).

They contacted the Airside hotel, and were told that they COULD reach the Airside hotel after their jaunt into the city by presenting their outbound BP.

That sounds a bit strange to me. First of all, when they begin their journey in DPS, or once they land in KUL, will they even get a BP for a flight the following day? And if so, can they show the BP for the following day the evening prior and gain airside access?

Worst case scenario, could they wait until midnight, and then gain access to airside areas, since it will technically be the same date as their travel date?

1) I see no reason why they cannot issue boarding pass for both sectors at DPS especially if its under the same ticket.

2) While I have not done it at KUL, I also do not see any reason why you cannot enter the departure area a day earlier if you already have a boading pass. Just tell airport security you are on transit/using transit hotel/using Golden Lounge if you do meet a stupid security officer (like I did at LGK !)

3) Have you tried getting MH to provide overnight accomodation ? Chances are that you will be put up at the KLIA Pan Pacific which is quite a decent place.

I agree - sounds like they should be able to gain access to the airside area as long as they have a BP, even if it's for the evening before.

I contacted MH and asked them for a free or discounted hotel since they will be overnighting in KUL on a 'C' ticket. The agent indicated that if they were flying on a paid ticket, MH would have put them up at the Pan Pacific. Since they're on an award ticket, they don't qualify for a free (or even discounted) hotel.
