Maybe its just me, but for a pair of $1500 headphones, you should be able to hear people's thoughts while using them.

It's $1150 not $1500. But yes, they are expensive. Somebody will buy them. We have lots of gadget freaks here. Many people buy cell phones I would never consider either, and they buy them when they first come out and are really expensive.

LIH, I agree. I have a bit of technology fetish myself. It would be cool to find a set somewhere to try them out. I suppose if you are in the music business or have a highly sensitive ear, there could be some value. Many people don't have a good enough ear to be able to tell the difference between high-end, and 'platinum' quality.
Then again, if they but are as light, small, and as comfortable as a pair of ear buds and have high-end noise cancelling, like in the QCs, I could be converted.

They don't have any active noise cancellation but they do seal out the outside noise because of their custom fit. They claim 26db. I think that might make them inappropriate for travel, now that I think about it. I don't think you want something that makes a complete seal in your ears when you fly in a plane. I don't know how that would work out.
Did you read the review? They have some cheaper models also.

You can have custom fit ear molds made and use them with Shure and Etymotic earphones. See, for example, http://www.sensaphonics.com/
