This one may actually stick, especially since all three carriers are doing it. Have certain economic realities begun to set in at Mesa? They are late publishing their financial results (again) and have been bleeding cash. Add the judgement hanging out there and the cost for bonding it over during appeals and you get big problems. FWIW, before Mesa/go! came along, I was sure that HA and AQ were gouging and/or colluding to keep interisland prices higher than they had to be. I still think my assumption was correct, but I really don't like the way Mesa went about competing. I have refused to fly them even when they were cheaper, and I am basically quite stingy, as Mrs. KF will tell anybody who wants to know. Why couldn't they have taken an honest approach to competition? They will probably fold their tents in the night at some point, and we will be back to the bad old days. |
