Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Car rentals price hike, is this correct?
Hello all you car rentals, I am trying to plan/book my skiing week ends from now till March and noticed that prices have sustantially increased for either a weekend or a week. I get the following :
Compact for a week with winter tyres ( excl insurance - via SEN tarrifs)
EUROPCAR 90 euro
SIXT 105 euro
Compact for week
EUROPCAR 370
SIXT 420
Are there any other offers available that I have missed? The one that was on Austrian.com which included winter tyres during Xmas has now gone.
many thx

As things get booked and the availability of cars is less, the rates go up. Also, if there is now a special event going on in the area where you are planning to visit, that can drive the prices higher, again because the supply of cars is fewer.
It's not unusual for areas to adjust their prices as their Season's get closer. Here's an example. Here in PHX we have the Superbowl. There were folks who booked Lux SUV's last Feb and March for $65 per day. They are now sold out but those who were still able to book in October are paying $160 per day...and higher. The hotels have been doing this for years...higher demand, less supply, higher rates.
It's also like concert tickets. The bigger the draw, the higher the rates for those too.

cars have winter tires anyway. and if they want to give you one without, shoe them you sixt plat or ep first card and they will give you something with winter tires or even 4 wheel drive. no need to pay for winter tires
and then the prices will be normal

I tend to agree if you are Europcar First or Sixt Plat, but be careful , in Munich during conference weeks, they may charge you for it as they tend to run out of cars! market is boyant right now for rentals in Germany, I read a study and it looks like price will go up even more by a solid 10%
