Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Help with Orbitz

Has anyone had a problem like this? A month ago I booked a first/business class round trip ticket from Mexico to NYC on Aeromexico using Orbitz. Naturally I paid a premium price for it.
Today I received a letter from Orbitz saying that this was a technical error and I was confirmed in economy. No reduction in price.
I have sent emails to no effect. Calling is impossible. If I use Skype to get their 888 number they require a US phone number which I do not have. Using my daughter's US number does not match their records. I I use the number for out of country customers, it is invariably busy.
Any thoughts would be most welcome.

You mention you paid a preminum price... what this a premium over what first/business would cost or coach?
You do not indicate where you are located... but if allowed, you may wish to contact your credit card company and dispute the charge since you are not receiving what you paid for. The letter from Orbitz indicates as much.
I am not sure you will get Orbitz to give you a first/business class ticket; especially if it WAS a technical error. You may want to start looking for alternatives before the prices get too much higher.

Orbitz in coach is usually non-refundable fares, could be the OP ended up with a Full fare coach, if so they should be able to simply cancel it, even if purchased on Orbitz.
Either way if you cant call Orbitz due to not being in the US , why not cantact them via their website and simply tell them to cancel your tkt an drefund you your $$.
Despute the charges although already probably paid for to the CC and guard your original confirmation showing its a FC tkt and the letter just received as you'll need them as Evidence.
Until its resolved I wouldnt want to purchase another tkt unless I was told to by someone at the CC CS, make sure to get a name and ask that they email you the same

I live in Guanajuato Mexico. I booked a flight for Jan 8th Guanajuato-Mexico City -NY returning on 12th. I specifically looked for and paid for business/first instead of coach (that is a premium over coach not over first). I have the purchase confirmation printout (17/12/2007) where first or business is specified for each leg of the journey.
Here is the letter from Orbitz. Note they offer no refund. When I went to my reservation, I was still offered seats in first from Gto to Mexico but only in coach on the MC-NY leg. I did not elect either since I did not want to accept this change.

Our records show that you recently purchased and booked an economy-class ticket on Orbitz.
Please note that due to a technical problem, your booking may erroneously appear as a first-class reservation in My Trips at www.orbitz.com. Your reservation is confirmed in economy class.
