Northwest WorldPerks (Discontinued Program) - NWA, Midwest tighten tiesView Full Version : NWA, Midwest tighten ties Business as usual Jan 2, 08, 10:38 am Midwest issues statement today saying it's extending its code share agreement with NWA. Statement here (http://65.36.138.212/publicus/blog/read.asp?BlogID=8&ID=8429). tvnwz Jan 2, 08, 12:00 pm As long as I can get EQM's on all YX flights, I am a happy camper! motytrah Jan 2, 08, 12:39 pm The real question for people ex MKE is how are the fare prices holding up with all these changes? pmaddock Jan 2, 08, 8:40 pm Now if only they'd offer reciprocal club access. I grant that there is a WC in MKE but when flying Midwest its in the wrong wing. DCAflyer81 Jan 2, 08, 8:51 pm Now if only they'd offer reciprocal club access. I grant that there is a WC in MKE but when flying Midwest its in the wrong wing. Yeah, but how many clubs does YX have? It may not be worth it for NW to open all of their clubs up to get just the one YX club in return. nwdogahunt Jan 3, 08, 6:50 am Do we know for sure if EQS/EQMs can now be earned by flying Midwest with this new agreement? humanoid94 Jan 3, 08, 7:20 am Do we know for sure if EQS/EQMs can now be earned by flying Midwest with this new agreement? EQM/EQS on YX actually predate this agreement. They have been in effect for awhile. richie_rich66 Jan 3, 08, 7:45 am As long as I can get EQM's on all YX flights, I am a happy camper! I will second that!!!!! I believe that EQM's on YX have been in place since October or November 1, 2007. Fare's on YX to certain destinations seem to be pretty competitive of late. pmaddock Jan 3, 08, 8:02 am Yeah, but how many clubs does YX have? It may not be worth it for NW to open all of their clubs up to get just the one YX club in return. I thought that the reciprocal club agreements had some sort of 'settlement' arrangement that would negate this issue. From what I understood each club totals up its visitors from the other network and at some point they compare and whichever one is higher pays some sort of fee. pmaddock Jan 3, 08, 8:03 am Drat - thought of one more thing - does Midwest have a priority check-in and if so, can we use it now? I'm flying them for the first time pretty soon. BDQBDQ Jan 5, 08, 8:30 am and what about the upgrades on YX ? does nw PE get auto-upgrade on YX 5 days in advance ? yes, NW-YX now has a "better" alliance - was trying to get award ticket for lax-nyc....only YX showed up at 25K level....NW/DL/CO/AS alll came at 50K or more GBadger Jan 5, 08, 8:42 am and what about the upgrades on YX ? does nw PE get auto-upgrade on YX 5 days in advance ? yes, NW-YX now has a "better" alliance - was trying to get award ticket for lax-nyc....only YX showed up at 25K level....NW/DL/CO/AS alll came at 50K or more I didn't think that YX had a first class cabin until I looked at their MD-80 seatmaps. Turns out that those aircraft have 3 rows each. mnflyer27 Jan 5, 08, 12:30 pm I wonder if they will move back to Lindbergh? marvnmar27 Jan 5, 08, 4:43 pm and what about the upgrades on YX ? does nw PE get auto-upgrade on YX 5 days in advance ? yes, NW-YX now has a "better" alliance - was trying to get award ticket for lax-nyc....only YX showed up at 25K level....NW/DL/CO/AS alll came at 50K or more No, unless something is changing no NW elites get free upgrades. YX own Executive Elite do not even get free automatic upgrades. YX is selling for $60 or 65/each way and you're getting extra legroom with a first class seat...no free meals or free alcohol (at least on the flights I've done). I'm from MKE and in the old days YX was amazing. YX always had 2-across first class/leather seats, full meals in coach (we're talking steak, lobster, shrimp, prime rib etc)...then only their Signature service offered 2x2 leather with BOB meals, while some planes were saver service w/ 2x3 regular coach seats with extra legroom...Effective May 2008, all planes will have 3 rows of first class and the rest 2x3 regular coach seats but you still get the free chocolate chip cookie in-flight. REObserver Jan 11, 08, 9:59 am Effective May 2008, all planes will have 3 rows of first class and the rest 2x3 regular coach seats Surely the 717 will stay 2x2, right? I fly them DCA to MCI about 3x a year when I don't tack on another trip. I'd hate to lose those comfy 2x2. Phil2016 Jan 11, 08, 2:04 pm I'm from MKE and in the old days YX was amazing. YX always had 2-across first class/leather seats, full meals in coach (we're talking steak, lobster, shrimp, prime rib etc) Ahh, memories. I remember the free flowing champagne with breakfast. Surely the 717 will stay 2x2, right? I fly them DCA to MCI about 3x a year when I don't tack on another trip. I'd hate to lose those comfy 2x2. 717s are being converted as well, to be wrapped up by the end of summer I believe. There will be 10 rows of signature seating (2x2). Total of 40 signature seats and 59 saver seats. To be safe on any upcoming trips, be sure to book seats as close to the front as possible. MKEbound Jan 11, 08, 7:07 pm Looking today to book an award ticket for my in-laws MSN-MKE-BDL, all on Midwest planes, showed up as an option as a perk-saver ticket. ^ marvnmar27 Jan 11, 08, 10:58 pm Yep, the 717's are being converted as well....With the 99, they're still able to only have 2 FA's in-flight. My guess is that the 717's will be converted using the same new leather seats that the saver M-88's now have (in the 2x3 section). The one good part is getting EQM's on NW. jeffhacker Jan 12, 08, 7:12 pm Surely the 717 will stay 2x2, right? I fly them DCA to MCI about 3x a year when I don't tack on another trip. I'd hate to lose those comfy 2x2. No. The 717's are going two-class as well with a 2 x 2 section up front and 2 x 3 in the back. REObserver Jan 13, 08, 11:45 pm No. The 717's are going two-class as well with a 2 x 2 section up front and 2 x 3 in the back. Now that's just six kinds of wrong. The 717 is not one of the most spacious planes, so a 2x3 arrangement would... well I just don't want to think about being stuck in cattle class like that. I'm glad to get the EQM and EQS, but it'll take more than cookies to make that a pleasurable experience. ed1 Jan 14, 08, 1:04 am Now that's just six kinds of wrong. I'm glad to get the EQM and EQS, but it'll take more than cookies to make that a pleasurable experience. It shouldn't be any worse than the normal Y seats on NW. On the FL 717s the width of the Y seats is 18". pmaddock Jan 20, 08, 8:45 pm Yeah, but how many clubs does YX have? Well guess what - it appears that we CAN use their club per this post: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=781364 Oddly this seems to have just appeared in the club directory with no announcement - not even in the WC news section of nwa.com. Now if only they would announce NW Elites being able to get priority seats or check-in.....
