Wyndham Rewards (formerly TripRewards) - Is the Trip Rewards guarantee still Good?

I used it several years ago with great success, but have not heard or seen anyone posting about free nights lately?

My brother had a free room last night a la best rate guarantee. Takes a bit more work to find them, but they are there.

It's bound to get even harder. This topic comes up all the time on SlickDeals. There's another mega-thread brewing there right now with fresh newbies asking the same questions.
