Las Vegas - Best NON-Strip View for New Year's Stip Fireworks

Can anyone reccomend any place off the strip for a good view of the strip's New Year's fireworks?
A couple places come to mind, but I'm not sure how viable they are...
1) 215 and Summerlin Parkway - the view of the entire Valley up there is pretty sweet. Maybe it would be possible to park on the closed road, just west of the 215 where the Summerlin Parkway dead ends.
2) Hualapai, north of 215 - I was driving up there today looking at some model homes in Providence, and there were some streets crossing Hualapai that looked like they might be good to park on the side with a view of the strip...Elkhorn or Deer Springs maybe.
Any thoughts or other ideas?
My wife and I were thinking of briefly visiting the strip scene early on in the night and then escaping the crowds for a better view of the fireworks.

I wouldn't venture out towards Summerlin....seems to me that it would be too far away, no?
Five-ish years ago, I went with a small group of friends to see the fireworks on an overpass of the 215 in the southwest segment, maybe something like 215 + Rainbow. There were only a small handful of cars on the side of the road, and it was great viewing. Plus, we were staying in Summerlin that year and we were home at about 12:15 am - no crowds at all.
Have fun - let us know where you watch them from!

The rooftop of LAS airport is rumored to have a wonderful view. Also, the airplane viewing spot on Sunset would be quite nice. Anywhere west of the strip will have a nice view. Another option would be to head northeast up on Sunrise mountain, but make sure to bring a bullet-proof vest!

How does one get to the rooftop of LAS airport?

Another great spot is Durango and Spring Mountain. There is a park there (Desert Breeze) so you can stay in or next to your car and hear the simulcast.

The fireworks will originate from the roof of the Venetian (I met the Grucci Bros. going up the elevator).

... maybe something like 215 + Rainbow. There were only a small handful of cars on the side of the road, and it was great viewing. ...Plus...that's where you'll find the best Thai in town: Archi's Thai Bistro.^^

Fireworks will be shot from 7 casinos from MGM Grand to the Stratosphere. See link for map

Well, we went to Desert Breeze Park at Spring Mtn and Durango. Got there at 11:40 and a police car was keeping everyone out? So, we drove around a bit, came back, and the cop was gone and people were parked there. But, we decided to park in the shopping plaza on the west side of Durango instead and walked across the street to the park.
Not bad. COLD OUTSIDE!! We could see all the fireworks synced together across the length of the strip. However, they were a bit small. I think we'll try McCarran or the airplane viewing area off of Sunset next year. I wonder how early you'd need to get there to get a parking spot, though.
