Are there any publicly available deals for new amex cards? Last year during Christmas/Thanksgiving, if I remember correctly, they had a $250 statement credit for new card applications like gold, plat, etc. ^

Deals abound but if you know what card you want, that helps. For instance, we currently have offers for the Starwood Preferred Guest Amex where you get 10,000 points on first spend and an additional 15,000 points after spending $15K in 6 months. For the Hilton Honors Amex, you can get 10,000 points on first spend, 15,000 bonus points if you spend $5K in 5 months and 2,500 points for each of your first 4 stays. The Delta Gold Business Amex has 15,000 miles on first purchase, up to 5,000 for adding cardmembers, 5,000 miles for spending $15K and another 5,000 miles for spending $25K. Etc, etc, etc :) Link to current offers is below. Enjoy! NoStressHere Jan 18, 08, 11:52 pm There are lots of such deals. I sent to that site and did not find any deals for the AMEX Plat cards. One of the big benefits I am looking for is airport lounges. gerald5 Jan 19, 08, 12:03 am AMEX plat deals are by invitation only... if you are an existing AMEX cardholder with sufficient spend, you should be getting those offers. I don't think this is by invite only, anyone can apply on the amex website even if you have never had a amex before. sbm12 Jan 19, 08, 11:02 am I don't think this is by invite only, anyone can apply on the amex website even if you have never had a amex before. The platinum card is not invite-only, but the promos for it seem to be. gerald5 Jan 19, 08, 1:14 pm I don't think this is by invite only, anyone can apply on the amex website even if you have never had a amex before. Yeah, that's why I said deals... you can certainly apply for plat online w/o invite but you end up with no promo either. There have been promos for Gold cards in the past... (e.g. $250 on first purch) flguy Jan 19, 08, 3:46 pm Yeah, that's why I said deals... you can certainly apply for plat online w/o invite but you end up with no promo either. I have been wanting to upgrade to Plat now for a while, I use to get offers in the mail all the time and I threw them away, I called up about 2 months ago to see about upgrading and tried to get a deal or lower fee, and they wouldnt budge, now I dont get any bonus offers anymore now that they know I want one! I spend about $50,000 with them, you would think I could get something. voop Jan 20, 08, 4:37 pm The platinum card is not invite-only, but the promos for it seem to be. Depends. In some countries (France comes to mind), one can't, at least officially, "apply" for an AmEx Plat, but is "invited"......of course, one can always ask a csr for an invitation. I am told that this works only if one has a long and (for AmEx) beneficial pre-existing relationship, though. The French Plat is pretty good, though, at least I'm getting more out of the services than the annual fee ;) |
