Hyatt Gold Passport - Few questions on Hyatt Gold Program

Hi All:

I will be traveling quite a bit in the next few months, and have received the double points offer towards higher status for the Hyatt FF program. I can see myself definitely making Diamond in the next three months. I don't know much about Hyatt and I have a few questions on the Hyatt Gold program:
(1) The program is more geared towards North American hotels - i.e the Lounge benefits are only for US & Canadian properties - is that correct? I have read on many posts that the lounge access is often extended on non-Canadian and US hotel?
(2) What is the difference between the Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt? I think PH is the luxury brand (like St Regis at Starwood), and Grand Hyatt is similar to the Sheraton? I understand that there is no Lounge at all at the PH. In this case, does one get breakfast coupons?
(3) Is RC available at all hotels? Diamond are entitled to upgrade to RC floor. I thought by default of being upgraded to RC room you get automatic access to Lounge (if there is one). is that so?

1. Lounge access is "guaranteed" for all Diamonds in US (non-resort) hotels. For others (international or resort) you will get lounge access if upgrade to the club level is available.

2. When lounge access is not given (no club lounge in property) or (resort or international) you will get breakfast coupons.

3. No - see 1 above.

This is the one most DIFFICULT and TWISTED benefit of Hyatt. They have TONS of HyattREGENCY's with NO RC! Why?

With marriott, you get a lounge at 99% of the full service marriotts. With Hyatt, I have found it to be more like 35% of HR's have a lounge. I dont want bfast coupons...I would like the lounge...water, cola, snacks etc.

:td::td: to Hyatt on the LACK of RC's!

you've described this as a "double points offer." The Hyatt promo I know about next year is a "double stay" offer. While each stay gets counted as two stays, you do NOT get double points.

that means that the best deal through January is to stay at a hyatt place or summerfield suites, which counts for the double stay credit, but which includes 2,500 points if you register for it at goldpassport.com/SCD08

Another suggestion for the OP:

I see your profile states that you are SPG Plat. You might be better off comping from your SPG Plat to Hyatt Diamond. That way your first 13 stays of the year will all come with Hyatt Diamond bennies also. ^

I too am interested in moving some business to Hyatt I figure I could get comped Diamond and with the double stay credit, I could requalify fast. My main interest is in taking part in FFN which seems to be a great program. My question is, does this occur every year? and if so is it always the same time of year?

Until they do away with it, yes it has been occuring every year. It used to actually occur twice a year back in the good ole days a few years ago. Now it's down to once a year and the earning & redemption dates seem to keep getting shorter and shorter. But you're correct, it is a great promo, probably the best one of any hotel chain!! ^ The last couple FFNs have occuring during the winter (Earn in the last few months of the year and redeem in the last few months of the year as well as the following 2 months or so), but there's no guarantee that Hyatt will keep up that schedule or for that matter that they will continue running the FFN promo.

Thanks so much for the reply. I'll probably moniter this board and when its available, then I'll make my decision as to whether I'll try out Hyatt.

Thanks again

I'm doing the same thing.

I stayed in Hyatts a good deal in 2002-2004, then they kept raising their prices to the point where they exceeded my meager expense limits.

I've been SPG Plat for 3yrs running now, and applied for a status match with Hyatt today, plus the double stay credit, plus the points bonus for the Hyatt Place stays.

They just opened 2 of the Hyatt Place hotels in Silicon Valley, so will be checking those out.

Good to hear. ^ I have no doubt you'll enjoy Hyatt Diamond status and increase your stays within the Hyatt chain as a result. ^
