The most stupid thing a pax can do after missing a flight is call in a bomb threat . . . . DUH . . .
Bomb Threat Forces Landing
(Omaha, NE) -- An airplane with 137 passengers on board was forced to make an emergency landing at Omaha's Eppley Airfield after the airline received a bomb threat. Southwest Flight 1018 was en route to Hartford, Connecticut from Las Vegas when the threat was received Saturday night from someone who had apparently missed the flight but had baggage on board. After the passengers were evacuated, security personnel searched the passenger and baggage compartments with bomb-sniffing dogs. Nothing suspicious was found, and passengers were allowed to re-board a few hours later. Authorities have not yet released the name of the person suspected of making the threat.

someone who had apparently missed the flight but had baggage on board.
And what random neuron firings in his brain led him to believe this would cause him to get his luggage faster?
According to local Hartford news last night (12/23), the pax that missed the flight but whose bags went aboard commented "what if there was a bomb in my luggage".
from what was reported, sounds more like a stupid comment than an intentional bomb threat.

I would say pre-9/11 this was a stupid thing to say as well. Not sure how he was expecting to get on the plane in OMA, if he was in LAS.

Not as stupid as this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfDXXe3KhWI). :D

And once again we have "proof" that the TSA KNOWS the useless screeing works...If they REALLY screened would there be a risk of a bomb?????

It would be foolish to ignore a bomb threat based only on the assumption that your screening was infallible--even if you thought that your screening was infallible.
They once built an unsinkable passenger ship and that didn't turn out so well...

I thought there had to be a 100% bag - passenger match, at least for the first leg of your trip otherwise the plane shouldn't take off (post 9/11 rules). No excuse for doing what he/she did but maybe he/she was trying to bring that to their attention and it was misconstrued?
I thought there had to be a 100% bag - passenger match
That was dropped when the screening became infallible.

Not infallible, but 100% bag screening. That's been several years now. Jan 2003, was it?
