American Express Membership Rewards - Status Match from AMEX Plat Airline Status

Hi,

Has anyone had their CO, US, DL Gold Status matched by UA, AS? I guess only Cent cards are given this but I was just wondering if the Status Match people look at segments/miles or actual status level.

I don't have personal experience here, but from reading other FT threads, my understanding is that with the status granted by AMEX centurion, if you are savvy, you can get a status match for 1-year on UA or AS, but it will only last 1-year if you are not actively flying those airlines enough to keep the status. I.e., you can't repeat the trick.

My understanding is that you just prove your status and offer to bring them your business; UA & AS will assume you earned your status by flying unless you say otherwise.

I was matched MVPG on AS by sending in a copy of my US Gold card a few years back. Unfortunately I was new to the whole elite status thing and didn't know that the status match was for one year only. Now I'm back to normal :(
