Korean Air Skypass - KE Business Class FRA-ICN-BKK - what to expect?

Hi everyone,

I currently have an award booking with KE on hold for my parents for October.

They're booked as follows:

FRA-ICN KE906 19:45 - 13:00+1 (747)
ICN-BKK KE651 17:35 - 20:55 (773)

BKK-ICN KE654 01:30 - 08:45 (773)
ICN-FRA KE905 13:05 - 17:35 (747)

They are travelling in Business Class.

After searching in this forum, I am under the impression that the 747s used on the ICN-FRA-ICN route are equipped with the newer, angled-flat Business seats ("Prestige Plus"), and that the 773 which operates to BKK has the older cradle seat ("Prestige"), as outlined here (http://www.koreanair.com/local/eu/gd/eng/if/cs/eng_if_cs_pc.htm).

Is my understanding of the situation correct? Does anyone know how often equipment swaps happen on the Frankfurt route (or the European routes in general)? Is there any chance at all of getting the new Business Class on the BKK route?

My father has flown KE Business and First before - though the last time was in 1999. Has service gotten better or worse since then?

I thought I would give this a bump since it's been over a week. I went ahead and issued the tickets (now with a three-day stopover in Korea on the return instead of direct connections both ways), but I would still appreciate it if someone could comment on my questions above.

Oops, sorry for the late respond (although I'm not a manager or something of this board.) :) What you understood is correct - new one for FRA-ICN-FRA, and old type for BKK. KE's upgraded 747s are running quite loosely, so swapping to old config won't happen - well, it actually happens, but around 1%, I think, especially when president of Korea go abroad. Also, the chance to have new config on BKK route is quite small. KE does not have plan to upgrade 773 (nonER) until they got many buffers (like 773ERs and 380). But there comes lots of additional flights to BKK which are usually run by 772, and I think by that time (Oct 08) most of 772 will be upgraded. So if you find additional flights on your date, move to that one. However, October...... is not high season, I'm not sure about it.
