Budget Travel - Whistler Hotel

Need help finding deals in Whistler. Dates are around 2/17/08. Needs to be something fairly nice and in Village or around there. Hotels are asking crazy high prices $400 and more. :eek: Condos on Allure.com are even overpriced at nearly $200 and more! Can someone please tell me the secret to this place? Have AMEX points but I don't have any Hilton, Starwood or Fairmont points. Fairmont is 45K AMEX per night which is way too much. AMEX to HA to Hilton is just not a good conversion. Just wish they had a Hyatt there.

Travel off peak. No kidding.

I was in Whistler last weekend and from what I gleaned, there was little or no downward price pressure during peak seasons, even for less than luxurious accomodations.

Looks like Whistler even has Vail beat on prices, probably because it's even more isolated- where else can u go? And u want to stay in the village area? maybe www.vrbo.com might have something.
