Swiss International Airlines - Has ZRH-ORD gone permanently to 343?

Hi folks!

I was just wondering... I noticed that the flight to ORD was operated by an A340 at least twice during the last four days, while it used to be an A330 until a few weeks ago. Is this a permanent change or just operational?

Saw it was a 332 on Dec 11 then a 343 on Dec 14. Probably playing musical chairs while their 330/340 fleet is doing winter maintainance.

Currently booked on it for 29th December and it is scheduled in as an A340, hence I'm happy to be on there in J. Hopefully no musical chairs to be played in the mean time!

Made some further research and it appears that the A340 used for LX 8 ZRH-ORD has been pulled from the morning ZRH-JFK (LX 16) which is now operating with an A330, while it used to be A340 until a few days ago.

This might mean that the change is permanent, given that LX flies to JFK twice daily (10am and 1pm) and to ORD once daily only. It makes more sense, capacitywise, to use the A340 on the single ORD service and make two A330 runs to NY. Or am I wrong?

Last night on the inflight info on a A320 it was shown that ORD would get a A340 permanently - though no specific from when given - so it would seem that the A340 should be the norm on the ORD route.

given that LX flies to JFK twice daily (10am and 1pm)thrice in fact. They also fly to JFK from GVA.

It's a permanent thing and has been advertised for some time now. (both inflight and in Chicago)
Personally still prefer LH though :D
