I just joined GCC recently, as there was a bonus promo and I would be stayed at a Best Western during the appropriate period anyhow.

Well, I had to ask for the bonus to be posted, since it didn't post automatically. Cool. That was at least handled by customer service by email. The stay itself was over a month ago and the points haven't posted. The hotel has said it'll post them, but how long can that take? GCC customer service are all over the place. The web site says I need a folio, but I don't have one. (The hotel just gave me my credit card receipt, nothing else.) One agent by email said I could just fax that to them. Another agent said that I'd need to contact the hotel.

What a shambles! All the hotel programmes I'm used to (Hilton, Starwood, etc) post reliably within a few days, while the airlines post within a day or so. GCC seems to be back in the dark ages of how other hotel chains ran about 20 years ago. Is this usual? For all their points are worth, it's not worth all the time chasing these dimwits.

Hi! I'm usually hit or miss with my points posting to GCI account -- I think it truly depends on each hotel, but if you made the reservation on-line their website has a handy form to have them post the points for you. If not, as it appears from your post, you just need to fax them your receipt -- if all you received was a credit card slip, that should be fine. Just include your GCI account number, the date(s) of the stay and the net amount of the room rate. Once I've done that the points post almost instantaneously. I'm a member of many of the same clubs you are and have found that I've actually had great luck using my GCI points in US and in Europe. Don't give up and make sure that you always give your card at check-in -- seems their on-line reservation systems don't always transfer into the reservation system of the hotels.
