Starwood Preferred Guest - How long did your SPG Amex bonus points take to post?

Almost everything I've seen (including my friend who signed up for the SPG amex the same time I did) tells me that the 10,000 bonus SPG points post almost immediately after your first charge. However, I already got my first statement, and they only credited me the points for dollars I spent, no 10,000 bonus! (I've never had a starwood card, ever)

Also, how long does it take to get the 15,000 bonus points for $15,000 spend? (Yes, I used the banner link from FT to get this offer)

I called amex and they told me the 6-8 week standard language for the 10,000 bonus points

Maybe I'm just lucky, but SPG Amex has been posting points on time since I got the card. My points posted with the first statement purchase. As a matter of fact, they posted ont he day the billing cycle closed. Even now, I get my points every month on the 30th when my billing cycle ends ^

I have a friend who applied for a new card more than a month ago and she is still waiting for the points to post...

OK, good to know I'm not the only one waiting for bonus points to post... lol... My regular spend points posted right when the statement closed, though, which is nice...

I will hit my $15k spending target next month, so maybe I'll get both bonuses at that time... Hopefully... :)

PS - Great pictures of Alexandria, VA! ^

I've always had regular points and bonuses (10k and 15k) post very promptly--a few days after the close date, IIRC.

Just had a 25% bonus point offer from my SPG AMEx Business card. They said it would take 6-10 weeks to post. It posted in one week.

More than that, my Centurion acct gets its Membership Rewards points about 3 months after the charges post. With SPG, it's usually 2-3 days at the end of the cycle. I have absolutely NO complaints!

I've been waiting too. Actually I have already received two statements. AMEX CSR told me that I should wait for 8-12 weeks. Sigh:(

I received the 15K bonus points about a week after I passed $15K, before the statement closed. I was quite surprised at the speed.

Mine took about a year, and 3 calls/emails to Amex. And even then, there was a series of line items with varying credits and debits that I gave up trying to decipher, figuring it netted close close enough to what I was due.

Can you elaborate a bit? More details please... (i.e. - Was this the 10k or 15k bonus? What was amex's response/excuse? Why so many credits and debits?)

Thanks!

I got the 10k points (for first purchase) about 20 days after actually making the purchase. Since then, I've used the card for a few SPG property stays and the points have posted, on average, about 15-20 days after checking out of the hotel. So... not bad!

I got my 10,000 point bonus a the end of the billing cycle when I first used the card. I broke the $15,000 threshold at the begining of the December billing cycle, which closed on the 19th. I'm still waiting for those points to post.

I passed the $15,000 threshold at the close of this statement, last month, my 6th month. That was December 20th. I called yesterday and they told me 8-12 weeks to post. Very disappointing since this will put me over the top to AA lifetime platinum when I transfer.

On my SPG business card, my first statement just closed at the end of last week... 10,000 bonus starpoints showed up in my SPG account today... Incredibly fast... If only it were so with my non-business SPG card :(

My 2nd statement just cycled, no 10,000 bonus... I called amex and the rep said she would start an investigation. She called back 10 minutes later and left me a message saying that because I had a starwood BUSINESS card, I was not eligible for the 10,000 bonus on the personal card... (Funny thing is, I opened the starwood business card AFTER the personal card)

Thoughts?
