Can I ask for advice from those who are more experienced?

What is the advantage to booking flights with PTS if I can get the same rate booking directly with AA? Does PTS offer me anything for dealing through them?

What if I am away and there are issues with storms, canceled flights, etc? Does PTS help you if you have booked through them?

I would say the only benefit is you can partially or fully pay with MR points and still collect FF miles (if fully paid with points).

Other than that-no.
