American Express Membership Rewards - Priority Pass with Amex Plat in Canada and US

I'm new to this Forum and wanted to see if any one can shed some light with this topic.
I held a UK Amex Plat for many years and transfered to an Amex Canada Plat with my move to Vancouver.
I enjoyed the PP Membership courtesy of UK Amex, which covered the unlimited lounge access, that was so great as I used this all the time on my travels.
I find that neither the US or Canada Amex Platinum Cards offer PP Membership.
Does any one know if this will be a future benefit?
Luckily, I do also have the Amex AeroplanPlus Plat card that gets me complimentary PP Membership to Standard Level, but still have to pay US$24 per visit..

Appreciate fellow members to comment...
Thanks..

Unlikely. Can't speak for Canada cards, but US Plat card has its own lounge access program that is in some ways more limited (must be flying certain airlines) but has some advantages.

I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. AmEx is pretty happy with the longe agreement that they have in the US and I don't see it changing.

Which sucks for US card holders as european card holders can use their PP cards but can also use those arrangements amex has in the US by just showing your card.
European Card > US Card.

European Card > US Card. Are you sure about this, I find this a little difficult to believe since you don't just "show your card" as you say to get into lounges in the US, they swipe your card and it would be pretty easy for whatever machine is reading that swipe to figure out a non-US AMEX Platinum Card.

It works. And I think certain European countries even list those lounges as benefit in addition to PriorityPass. On the other hand, I managed to find a lounge in Beijing, which only accepted HK issued Amex cards and they checked the card and rejected my entry. :)

The above is true, as I checked with Plaza Premium Lounges in Vancouver and HK, they will only accept HK issued Platinum Card!
On the other hand, I had to use PP to access Plaza Lounges.

Just to let all know.. I have a new PP Standard Membership thru the Amex Canada, AeroplanPlus Platinum Card.
Still hoping that US/Canada Platinum will offer complimentary PP just like the European and Asian Markets!!

I agree with the comments. I've been a PP member the past year but have found two things I didn't like about it. 1. I have to pay 27$/pp to bring my family into the lounges and 2. I need to sign the little log as I go in (as I watch Amex plat card members just swipe by).

So, what do you all thing is better? What sort of draw backs does Amex Plat have? I'm thinking of switching next year from PP to the Amex Plat. But I'm concerned that it's that "the grass is always greener on the other side"

Thanks!

Issue 2 varies from lounge to lounge, some lounges swipe the card and you just sign the receipt. Some will fill the "bill" and you need to sign that, filling it manually takes a longer time of course. I don't see that as an issue so much.

AMEX Platinum US / PriorityPass
- in the USA you would of course use your Platinum card to gain access to those lounges, which are on the list but you have to be flying with that airline; if not then PriorityPass is better as they do not care if your ticket is for Delta but you want to use Continental's lounge
- PriorityPass has huge amount of lounges compared to Amex Platinum

Amex Platinum Europe/Asia (e.g., IEC/IDC, Finland, etc.) / PriorityPass
- you will receive PriorityPass Prestige free of charge with the Amex Platinum and one additional for the supplementary card holder
- in addition to PriorityPass 500+ lounges you will have also the Amex Platinum USA lounge access so you can just show your Platinum card when traveling in the USA (must be traveling with that airline who owns the lounge etc.)

The biggest drawback for Amex Platinum only (USA) is that you will lose huge amount of lounges outside of USA if you do not have PriorityPass. Amex Platinum USA only has lounges basically in the USA (Mexico?) but PriorityPass will open the doors globally.

If you travel only in USA and you are satisfied with the lounge access provided there, then Amex Platinum is enough. If you travel globally, then you need PriorityPass.

I agree with Miikka !

Even though I now have PP at Standard, courtesy from Amex Canada, I really do miss what I have given up..my UK Plat Membership, which included the PP Prestige paid by Amex UK.

My regular Amex Canada Plat is the same as US, can oly get into the Lounges of airlines that are partners, not much use in Canada if you don't use those US airlines often enough!
So that's why I opted to carry a seperate account which allows access to Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounges!

Thanks..
