i'm buying a 2 for 1 to europe in f class with platinum. BA for business (without 2 for 1) ends up being the same price as LX in first. anyone think its a bad idea????? thanks.

I agree, always worth checking out what each airlines specials are. Although I guess First would have to beat Bus Class. Probably 80% of the time Amex has worked out cheaper for me.

You really need to check each airlines full non-refundable fare vs what your local TA might get for you at discount....and it will differ depending on carrier, time of year and routing (and how deep discount your TA will offer).

For instance, 2 discounted business on Asiana is less than 2 for 1 on JFK/INC route, whereas CX 2 for 1 definitely better deal than 2 discounted businesss on JFK/CX non-stop route.

its interesting. i checked with consolidators and cooke/am ex and so on. their prices... when added up is not cheaper for first (lx and air france and BA). i can book with another service that uses miles points so i would not get the points and they too are not cheaper at the end of the day.

i was told if i want to go business on BA i can apply for a BA visa and get 2 for 1 but that takes a month to process and i'm sure stuff will fill up and go away by the time i am able to book. also, don't think their first will be cheaper for 2 for 1.

might just stick with the lx and am ex plat 2 for 1.
