Lufthansa and Swiss are using the new South Terminal Concourse J since a couple of weeks. Does anyone know about the lounge facilities at this terminal?

Thanks and Seasons Greetings

As of a couple weeks ago none were yet open, you have to go to another terminal to access the lounges. Actually not much is open in J once you pass security.

Does this mean the good old F 19 and in connection with that the "very short" walk to costums is over now? what a pity! ^

Maybe now people with over 1,90m can leave the plane now without hitting the roof.

I was there last week. Lufthansa and Swiss use Gate J17 which is at the end fo the terminal so there is quite some distance to immigrations. The immigration area itself is big and when I arrived on Swiss we were the only international flight. Immigration was quick and easy - enough open counters for redidents and visitors. From there to customs short walking distance. The terminal itself is spacious.

Until the lounge at the gate are is finished Lufthansa, Swissand other airlines use a Club America Lounge which is landside. After check in a HON-Circle representative walked me to the lounge on the fourth floor. The interior is modern, the beverage/"food" offer is the same as in the old terminal F. About one hour before departure the HON-Circle representative picked up all LX pax in the lounge to walk them to security and arrange for the use of the priority line. Inspection took just a few minutes.

With the exception of newspapers and beverages not stores/restaurants etc. open yet. This is all to come.

Here is a link to the Miami airport press release which also contains some pictures. http://www.miami-airport.com/html/concj.html.

Yes ,arrival is a hike , but immigration is great , lots of open aisles.

Departure is terrible , brand new terminal and 3 ,THREE , security lines , whereof one for f/c , departure time same as several Lat Am flts , so priority line is jammed and filled with Latin line maneuvering experts.:td:

Does somebody know when the LH/LX lounge at the gate will be finished?

Thanks!

I was in MIA last week and they told me that the new LH launch it will open next month.

Some small shopps are open now after the security, but even so it is quite desert. The Clu America launch is still accessabel on the 4th floor as prev. posted. Got some sandwiches that was handed out to LH passenger only.

I was in MIA, 2 days ago and the LH agent told me that it's still gonna take some time till the real lounge is going to open. I really didn't bother going to the Club America, as it is nothing overwhelmingly exciting. But if you are flying F right now, the service offered at the airport is pretty disappointing, but at least the service onboard was great.

best regards

No change as of aug 25.
You can use the Club America Lounge on the 4th floor if you are so inclined.
Rumor is the LH lounge will be completed "soon".

As of Sept 2 there is no change at all (my route: LH 463 MIA-FRA on C). You will be invited to the Club America Lounge. Expect nice welcome and free cold drinks with free WiFi hot spot. Flyer with WiFi password is on the table.

I'm at the Club America lounge right now waiting for my flight to FRA. Keep in mind that it's not a Star Alliance lounge so you'll need to be in C/F in order to use it.

Flew LX from MIA to ZRH in F last week. The Lounge in MIA is still the Club America Lounge. In my opinion it is not worth the visit.

Bummer. I was hoping to use the new lounge this Friday before my flight to DUS. While the Club America lounge is nothing special, it still beats sitting in the terminal. My biggest issue with it though is that it's not a *A lounge so I can't use it when flying in Y (like this Friday).

In the Club America now... how lame! And the fact that it is before the unpredictable TSA-enhanced security does not make it better, either. At least the WLAN I use for posting this is free.

Edited to add the incredibly daft thing I have just witnessed:
The food selection in this lounge is very poor - just pretzels and cookies. However, suddenly a two attendants started pushing a trolley with a wide spread of sandwiches and upscale crackers down the aisles. As they were doing it, they kept asking guests what airline they flew, and if those responded with anything other than LAN and TAM, rebuffed them and said that they could not have any food, loudly exclaiming that "this is only for LAN and TAM passengers!" Surprisingly, the further down the aisle they went, the more LAN and TAM passengers they found... :D

I'm flying LH F in January. Does anyone know if the LH Lounge will be opened by then? It's a shame that thy do not offer something better for F passengers...

Even the fact that the lounge is not behind the security check is a pain!!

Any rumours for the launch of the lounge?

Does anyone know if they have someone to pick up F passengers to bring them through the security as fast as possible?
How about the check in for premium classes?

PA is for HONs only at MIA and is good for arrival as well as departure. Separate checkin is available for F/HON/SEN/*G(?), for BIZ/FTL/*S(?) and for ECO. Not sure about the *G/*S support at F and BIZ checkin, but I assume it works.

No news as of Friday last week. F pax on LX are advised to wait at the fabulous Club J America lounge, and are escorted through security and onto the plane at the appropriate time.

I flew MIA-DUS on Friday and inquired when the Lufthansa lounge is going to open. I was told that there will be no Lufthansa lounge at MIA so I guess the plans for it have been scrapped :( Interestingly I was given an invitation to the Club America lounge even though I was flying in Y.

Who was saying there will be a Lufthansa lounge?

Plan is for an airside lounge probably another Club America used by multiple airlines.

hey PapaSmurf, then we have been on the same flight :-)
i have to agree with other posters above - the club america lounge is nothing to write home about. the only positive thing is the free WLAN. luckily we had a C BP when we returned to the security control. we would have missed the flight when we werenot allowed to use the fast track. the line for the regular security check was too long (only two checkpoints).

No arrivals lounge there. As a HON I was offered by a PA once to use the Club America, since it is landside. If you ask LH stuff, they may give you access as an arriving LH F pax. However, this is Club America (as described before in this thread) and not a typical arrivals lounge.

I don't know where the info came from, but when I was asking last year during checkin when the LH lounge is going to open I was being told "in the next few months". So perhaps that was under consideration. But then again maybe the check in agents don't have the most reliable info. In any case, it would make sense to have a LH lounge in that terminal since Club America is not a Star Alliance lounge.

The security line was really long that day for some reason. I was in Y and had to argue really hard with the agent to convince her that *Gold can use the fast track lane, otherwise I'd have also been in trouble. In the past a LH agent would come up to the lounge and escort the pax through the security line, but for some reason no one showed up that day.

f0zzyNUE, did you continue on to MUC? Because that's where I was heading so it's possible that we were on that flight as well :)

Hi,

The only airside lounge is the Delta skyclub. It is very nice. You can buy a daypass for 50 USD if you really want to use a decent club. Club America J is not worth going to at all. The terminal is much nicer and is after security.
