Budget Travel - Consolidators/Bucket Shops for France/Europe to Malaysia Ticket

Hi -- I'm hoping someone can help me. Around 10 years ago or so, I used to buy by tickets to Europe and the Caribbean through consolidators. These were travel agents who would buy seats in bulk from an airline and then sell them to the public at rates below what the airline was charging. By way of example, buying a ticket to Trinidad in February directly from American could cost almost $2,000 (Carnival!!); but through a consolidator, the ticket would cost $600-700 on American (and even less on the local carrier). When I search the forums/the web for consolidators, I keep getting referred to search engines like Kayak, Orbitz, etc. These engines just search published fares; so, they save time, but they don't provide anything you can't get directly from the airline. Does anyone have the name of a consolidator who has decent fares from Europe (preferably France or Brussels) to Malaysia? I am caught in the Christmas rush (around Dec. 18 through beg. of January), and I'm getting fares of $1600-$2000. I was thinking there has to be a consolidator who has purchased bulk space on Air Malaysia. Any ideas??? Thanks sooo much.

Nobody prepays for Air Tickets any more , Big Tour Operator do have allotments but even these are usually released back to the Airline 30 days before.

You best bet might be www.LTU.com from DUS to BKK then a cheap flight BKK to Malaysia on www.airasia.com Or Train.

But you will have to look 26 December for low cost outward and 20 Jan Onward for reasonable return fare.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the only flexibility that I have is that I can leave on the 17-20 or so, and can return from the 1st through the 5th. So, it looks like I'm locked into paying the high fares. I just assumed that if I was able to travel during the height of carnival season, going from Europe to Asia over Christmas would be doable. Shows what I know . . .
