I stay about 80 nights per year in hotels of various chains, but mainly IHG.

This year I decided to try out BW because of the wide availability of locations.

However, so far this year I have made 2 bookings online whilst logged in, presented my card at check in on both occasions, and both times points have not been posted to my account. What makes this really irritating is that as these were non US/Canada stays I have to fax the hotel receipt to the US. On both occasions I have received their customer satisfaction survey within 7 days of both stays, so if they must have a record of my stay, so why can they not check my booking automatically?

As a comparison, IHG have never missed a point yet, in 4 years of using them.

I had the same issue with them to awhile back.
Even though I gave them over the phone ever hotel stay date and confirmation#, no points.
Whose got time for that?
I really don't think that the BW understands the business traveler at all.

I resent that even after logging on to the web site and booking online, the Gold Crown Club number isn't provided to the motel with the reservation.

...and it even seems to be getting worse. In 2006 I stayed maybe 20 nights at BW which earned me Platinum. Though I had to send in the bills five time or so for retro-registrations, most points seemed to post. But this year has been terrible, no points have posted without me taking action. And even worse, I have now three outstanding stays that do not seem to post no matter how many letters/faxes/phone calls I make.

In my profile I have connected the GCCI-card to my SAS Eurobonus and set my earning preference to "miles". Despite these I have on several occassions received points and the BW customer desk in Milano does not seem to know how to exchanges these points into miles... What a mess, so unless BW is really the only alternative, I will only book ICH/Hilton in the future when staying in chained hotels.

'The FTer fix' to the problem you've outlined can be found here, guys:

While YMMV! I agree with you that you shouldn't have to do anything 'extra' to get the points to post. But...

Try the suggestion outlined above. It certainly works 4me!

Cheers,

P.S. Expanding the date range of postings often reveals answers to q's or postings that you don't initally see. So does using the search function.

I think it's a common problem, but they've always awarded me a few extra points to make me feel better.

Thanks for the advice, which seems to concur with the reply I got from BWGC here in the UK as follows:-

>Thank you for your email.

Please accept my apologies that you have experienced problems collecting points for your stays. To collect points for your stays please present your membership card upon departure of the Hotel.

I would need the Best Western booking reference number to be able to credit these points for your stay as I cannot locate it using the details provided.

To ensure points are being credited to your account you could ask for the print out that is only produced when points have been credited to your account.

One thing in BW's defence is that it took less than 48 hours from me requesting the missing miles to getting them posted.
