Travel Technology - The RARE iPod discount sale (lure or 'bait'?)

A fairly upmarket furniture and electrical retailer in my country included, for the first time I can remember, an 'iPod 4 day sale'. Every other weekend there is a '---- 4 day sale', but it's the first time I've seen 'real' price cuts instead of freebies/bundles.

The lure: almost 11% off AUD$199 + $10 iTunes card + extra USB charger (supposedly valued up to $50).

Not bad compared to Apple's pathetic 'Black Friday' sale a few weeks ago (similar pricing), without the above extras.

Did everyone bite: Yes!
Yes it sold out, yes it was busy;

Yes, it was a good lure to get locals to check out $2000+ tables and $5k+ lounges. :)

Our local shop is fairly new and quite slick, with its own Apple section as well as some great coffee machines and quality furniture.

---
Somehow I think the $188 will only be the first buy from here as the furniture looked pretty good. :) I have a good gift buy for someone and have my eye on some other stuff, which Mrs B likes too. ^

Smart lure, Domayne/Harvey Norman, 'ya got me'. :)

There is an Australian online store called www.GetMac.com.au which was promoted in a recent Paypal newsletter to me. They offer free shipping until Dec 20 if you pay via Paypal and use a code (details here https://www.paypal-offers.com.au/detail.asp?id=5&merchantid=99)

Prices are the cheapest I've seen in Australia for IPods (except for when Apple used to offer Educational discount on Ipods a while back).

I heard nothing about the Domayne sale. Was it a local only promotion?

I also wonder about the fact that all stores sell Ipods at the same price. Amazing how that works.

This 'sale' was advertised in the Sydney newspaper (Daily Tele if not SMH).
Definitely a first-time that current model stock is given a discount below rrp at a high-street shop.
It's a good way to get locals to visit, especially a lot of Domayne furniture/electrical furnishing stock is $1-12k+++.

Though sold out, the salespeople were happy to take a deposit and make out an invoice so that the sale price stands until stock comes in. Hope it does

I was told the promo will be on for a while, so it might be good forthose wishing t give the 4Gb Nano as a gift for Xmas. :)

(I was baited in a way today - requested one be held, told it was.
When I arrived in the afternoon, was told it sold out 'just as I was about to pick yours off the shelf to put away...' :()
