How do I find the specific fare rules (i.e. advanced purchase requirement, etc.) for a wanna get away fare? When I click on it I just get a generic description of all wanna get away fares, no specific mention of the advance purchase requirement (which is what I'm actually looking for).

Thanks...

Larry, the fare fules are on the Pricing page, after you select a flight. Each fare classification on this page has a hyper link leading to the fare rules.

Thanks, Brian. I tried that but ended up with generic "wanna get away" fare rules instead of rules specific for my fare.

In the "Pricing" section of the "Price" page I click on the link under "Type of Fare" and get the following:

Wanna Get Away

* Fares are nonrefundable but may be applied toward future travel on Southwest Airlines.
* Standby travel is permitted but requires that the Customer pay the difference between the original fare and the "Business" fare.
* Fares do not include a federal excise tax of up to $3.40 per takeoff and landing.
* Fares do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges (PFC) of up to $9 and government-imposed September 11th Security Fee of up to $5 one-way.
* Fares may vary as seats are limited and may not be available on all flights and dates.
* Limited seating, advance purchase, and other conditions may apply.
* Fares are subject to change until tickets are purchased and may be available for a limited time only.
* When combining fares, all rules and restrictions apply.
* Lower fares may be available through DING!

I'm trying to find out the exact advance purchase requirement for the fare. i.e. 3 days, 7 days, etc.

Yes, LarryJ, I noticed the same thing last week. PITA that you can no longer read the fare code to deduce, for example, the advance purchase requirement.

I now understand that you want to know the advance purchase requirement of each fare. One of the streamlining aspects of our new fare displays for Wanna Get Away fares is that the itinerary and pricing fares show you the lowest available Wanna Get Away fare for your intended travel date. Since it prices at that fare, you are within the purchase window. Also fares are always subject to change until they are ticketed.

Fares being subject to change until ticketed is the game that we play with all airlines. But the fact is that your fares do not change price that regularly. If we know that the current rule for this particular fare we are looking at is 3 week advance ( and we use to be able to know that ) then we can know, for instance, that we have 2 more days to actually ticket and still have a reasonable but not definite chance to get this fare. Sure, we can purchase now and cancel in 2 days with no penalty, but it was definitely a plus to be able to know the fare rules.

Could you put a note in the suggestion box for a way to pull up the specific rules of the displayed fare? It would certainly be very helpful for me, and I imagine, others. Once you get to the Price page a specific fare has been selected in order to get the price so they ought to be able to provide a link to that fare's rules at that point.

Was looking for advance purchase requirements on WN website and couldn't find them, but I did find this thread. Though I couldn't find the fare rules, I found a work-around to figure out the advance purchase requirement: just click on different days until the "wanna get away" column changes to "more advance purchase required."

Yea, with some 1day fares out there, pricing at 11p the day before a flight, procastinating a few hours can be dangerous.

At least once, I have seen 1-day fares disappear suddenly around 9PM Pacific Time. That was 3 hours before the expiration of the Virgin America fare that Southwest was matching.

BTW, a VX sale with 1-day advance purchase is ending in 2.5 hours. And Southwest did it again! The $49 trip I bought 1 hour ago is now $154. Wow.
