Diners Club Club Rewards - Return of Foreign Currency Conversion Fees collected by Diners Club

Remember that there is a court settlement for return of all or a part of foreign currency conversion fees collected on Diners Club credit cards between February 1, 1996 and November 8, 2006. However, you must submit an application for the money.
For more information, see this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7461653#post7461653) and this website (http://www.ccfsettlement.com/).

Thanks to the other thread you linked to, I turned in my claim before the deadline. In Saturday's mail, I received a letter listing my refund options and the forms to fill out for each option.

Edited to add that the deadline has not passed. Here are the facts from the above-mentioned link:
"Please note the following deadlines:
Deadline for asking for a refund: 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, May 30, 2008 (deadline for filing on-line, for post-marking your mailed claim form, or for faxing your claim form).
Deadline for asking to exclude yourself from the class: 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, February 14, 2008 (deadline for post-marking your mailed opt-out form, or for faxing your opt-out form)
Deadline for objecting: February 14, 2008"
Has anyone been successful in getting Diners Club to send copies of previous years' annual statement? This would make it much easier to review foreign currency charges and submit claim form?
I was told annual statements cannot be resent, but any monthly statement can be sent free, no matter how long ago.

Got this in the mail ... what a load of crap ... the credit card companies should have been required to make an effort to locate the customers and just send a form "If you want to opt in, check here", they should be able to easily determine how much in foreign currency conversions they did during that time and refund the 1%. The lawyers got paid, that's all they cared about, not making it easy for the actual consumers to get their money back.

Just received my notification in the mail. Where am I going to find records of foreign purchases for the 90's (from Feb 1, 1996)? Will card company provide records dated back that far?

I selected Option B....probably not the best given what I have spent but less hassle.
I asked Diners Club for copies of my annual statements going back as far as they kept records. The rep said they couldn't provide that (strangely) but could provide monthly statements as far back as I started the account.
So I requested a copy of every monthly statement going back to 1997....let's see what Diners Club provides, if anything.
I would certainly think much higher of Diners Club if it would make it easier to determine the foreign currency charges for past purchases.

I called and asked DC for all my statements in the period covered by the settlement. The terms of the settlement (available online) seem to say that DC and the other companies have agreed to make the statements available upon request. Nonetheless, DC says they are unable to provide anything prior to 2000. I've written the class action attorneys telling them of this and asking if there is anything that can be done. I may have to switch to Option 2 if I can't get the old statements.

for people who havent spend a lot of money on credit cards overseas BUT spent a lot of time overseas, isnt Option B the better way to go anyways??
Here is an excerpt from the web site's FAQ:
Can I get a copy of my bank statement?
You do not need to attach copies of bank or credit card statements with your claim. The defendant banks will provide copies of statements if they are electronically retrievable. If you are a customer of Household/HSBC or Providian/Washington Mutual, you should contact the Settlement Administrator for your electronically retrievable transaction records.
------------------------------------------------
So it seems that the banks are under no obligation to provide you with previous statements if they don't keep them electronically. Also, the language is vague about other options, like annual summaries being made available.
I just received the my forms in the mail and am considering "option 3." It says if there's not enough room on the form, you could file online. (I prefer doing things online, whenever given the option, as opposed to mailing paper.) But the website says nothing about filing online as an option. Even after entering my "Refund ID" I do not see anything about it. Did I miss something?
This is an unreasonable imposition: finding statements going back 11 years, given the amount of churning of credit cards, involuntary re-issues (eg: when the bank determines they had a security breach), new numbers on routinely issued new cards, etc.
DINERS/CITI know darned well TO THE PENNY exactly how much I've spent in foreign currency (it's been a bundle: I've furnished two apartments in this period). The attorneys who negotiated this were morons, or worse-- they colluded with the defendants to minimize the claims by creating artificial hurdles.
Bravo to the poster above who wrote to object. Me, I'll be too busy trying to locate moldy statements....
Just spoke with DC Customer Support. Here's the scoop:
- DC cannot provide copies of the annual summary.
- It will send you copies of monthly statements dating back to DEC 2001, about 7 years back.
- If your account number changed for security reasons, you don't have to provide all your past numbers; your current number is sufficient to pull all of your previous account data.

Has anyone submitted a claim on this issue? Has anyone received a refund, or been advised when one might be forthcoming?

The submission deadline isn't until May 30, so I assume they can't process refunds (at least for the second and third categories, maybe also the first) until then.
I've got a little over 50K in foreign expenses, so I'm looking forward to a refund.

Just a reminder that the deadline for filing is 30 May 2008, so if you haven't already done so you only have about two more weeks to file.
You can file on line. This link (https://www.ccfsettlement.com/claim/?action=choose) explains the three types of claim and provides links to each claim form. As noted, you can complete the form and file it on line.

If you're talking about the currency conversion fee class action settlement, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the settlement check.
The parallel LiPuma class action on the AMEX cards closed for submission of claims in 2005, and the claims still haven't been paid (latest informal word is to expect checks this autumn, see post #56 in this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=490746&page=4), over three years after the deadline for submission of claims).
