I'm new to the board and still learning so be patient.

I have a question about Vacation Packages to Hawaii.

I'm try to decide if I can get a package which includes air
and is for a set amount of time (say 4 nights/5 days) but
would like to stay longer than 5 days (not at the same hotel
that the package was offered, can I have a different return date
and still use the return air of the original package?
Hopefully someone can understand what I'm trying to ask?
Thanks for any help. :D

I saw a package provider, although I don't recall which one, who did allow this sort of setup. At the time you booked the package, you could indicate if you wanted more days without the package hotel. If you don't see that option when booking online, call the provider to see if it's available. This might be a good time to speak to a travel agent, too.

Edit: It was go-today.com that allows this.

Expedia also allows this (go to the packages tab, and choose "I only need a hotel for part of my trip").

But this assumes that you know all your plans in advance.

If you're looking for flexibility to change your mind during the trip, and extend your stay, that's harder. In general, most airlines will allow you to change your return flight for a fee (~$100) plus any possible fare difference. But airfare booked thru a package may be less flexible. If you need that flexibility, you're probably better off booking the air and hotel separately.
