If a family of 2 adults and one child always travels together, and there is a CP available from one of the adult's account; should the child or the other adult be designated for the CP? I am thinking there there may be problems with the reservation system showing a purchased fare for the child with no adult on the same record? Or is that not a problem?

No issues with a child with his/her own Conf# w/o an adult. I'm in a similar situation. I always designate my wife as the companion, which means she always travels for free as long as I have a ticket (by whatever means, paid or free). As for my child, if I'm using a RR for myself, I book hers separately (whether paying or or using RR) on her own Conf.#, or, if I'm paying for my AND her ticket, I'll book hers when I book mine.

It really doesn't matter to WN if there are 2 Conf#'s or 3 Conf#'s for the family's itinerary. Just check in everyone online (no issues), or, when you're checking in at the airport, if everyone has the same last night, just give the agent your last name and destination city and he/she will find all the reservations at once and check you all in.

hope this helps.

Currently my CP is in the name of my business partner. However, I've thought about changing it to one of my 4 sons (ages 6-16). I sometimes travel with my sons one at a time (special trip with Dad). With my sons not needing ID, I've thought they could all use the same CP.

So ... how unethical is this? Could the "special trip with Dad" put us both in jail ;)

On more than one occasion, ID screeners have asked my daughters (currently almost 5 and 7) what are their first names as the screener looked at their boarding passes.

Make sure your sons know who they are :p
