Chomp, chomp, chomp...
I've been reading this forum, listening to multiple people complain about points not posting... and eating my popcorn... You see, I don't have posting problems.
Recently 'lil ol me' earned Diamond status 'virtually4free' thanks to the recent expedia deal (entirely btw from properties abroad)... which means that I gained a lot of experience in checking in and out. And I'm observant. :)
During this time I discovered something which I think may help other FTers; it seems that one of the biggest problems attributed to this program is that points routinely fail to post - especially from properties overseas.
What I discovered is that most properties have this little 'old type' of credit card form that they fill out and then send to the posting god. Of course, that little paper form usually never makes it to valhala!
But, what I also found out is that the points CAN BE entered into your account INSTANTLY VIA THE INTERNET by the hotel. I've stood there myself and watched the front desk enter the points directly into the web.
If handled this way, the points then post to your account in about 24-48 hours. The front desk can then print you a receipt for the points that they just posted.
Now I dont leave the property without this 'points posted' receipt. And I don't have posting problems to bi*ch about! YMMV.
This makes me a happy camper... altho the elite program itself s**ks IMHO. :)
