So my buddy and I are all booked to fly to PR for christmas. We get there on the 20th, at about 10 PM and leave on the 25th around 4 PM. We were thinking to rent a jeep and drive around the island, new town every night, new people, new scenery, that kind of deal. We're not looking at anything fancy as far as accomodations are concerned. B&B places will be just fine. Anyone done this tour and can lend a helping hand?
Also, would someone suggest a place to rent a jeep in the cheap in San Juan? Any no name company will do, we just don't want to spend a fortune.

I stayed at Casa del Caribe a couple years ago it was right next to the Marriott and I got it for $110 a night. Which is a great price for around new year. If you want to rent a car think about something smaller, the rental fee will be less and you won't spend as much on gas.
Also, a number of bars and beach hut type places will pick you up and drop you off for free. This is a great service if you plan on driking.
Over all you only have 4 1/2 days so I would consider staying in San Juan. You can spend one day snorkling, another dan in Old San Juan, one day in the rain forest and so on.
Old san juan: We took a city but for about 75 cents it was really easy
Snorkling: cost about $75 pp and they picked us up
Rain Forest: For this you should rent a car for the day, there are some guided tours but there is no reason you can't do it yourself.
