Hello,

I'm a newbie and need 9,045 to reach UA 1K by year end. The only thing I've found so far is an E-Fare from SFO-LHR for $586 dep 12/6 and ret 12/10 which requires a Sat night stay which means more money for hotels. If I can convince my boyfriend to go, it might be worth it (he needs about 11,500 to make it to premier exec or we could use miles to buy his tkt). Is there a cheaper alternative out there?

I have some flexibility but would prefer to travel around weekends. I can fly anytime between Dec 6 and returning by Dec 24.

With a little work and some clever routing, you should be able to earn most of this on a domestic round-trip that costs under $300 and doesn't require a hotel. Think about routings that hop up and down the two coasts, and don't forget that you earn EQMs on US.

If that's too much work, think about taking advantage of the $169 ($203 all-in) r/t fare from SMF-PHL. Can be done same-day, and two of those will easily put you over the top.

There are also cheap routings on UA and US from SFO to Florida (FLL and PBI, in particular) - SFO-FLL is around $244 AI on Dec. 11-12. You could try looking for availability for something like SFO-CLT-PHL-FLL, which would get you 7600 miles, and leave you with needing just a quick RT to LAS or something.

If you are able to travel on the 17th & 18th, the fares on UA are MUCH lower then...

Look at flying out of SEA and doing a day R/T to MSP. $139 for the SEA-MSP leg. It's an L Fare.
