Mileage Run Discussion - UA: 3 segments from ORD

Was planning to tack an extra segment onto my last biz trip of the year, but it got canceled, so now I find myself needing 3 segments.

12/8 is probably the best, though I have to be back by 5 for a party. 12/1 would be even better, but I'm a moron and didn't think of this last week and now can't find anything cheap with a < 7 advance purchase.

I've found $175 to PIT on 12/8. It's good, but I feel like I should be able to do better.

12/1 is this weekend, way less than 7 days before departure.
12/8 you can get 3 segments returning to ORD, but you are really restricting yourself with that 5pm return.

Why not go 12/9, you can do it for $146.

I found $139 for 3 segments gets you on the ground at ORD by 1610 local time on 12/8.

I just found a $185 3 segment trip (ord - iad, change planes in pit) on the 8th, that could work.
