Hi Everyone,
I've never used this site before but in looking through the forums, it seems to be quite helpful! Does anyone happen to know a great deal for a flight from Toronto to Los Angeles (YYZ-LAX) during the last week of January? Is it cheaper to fly to San Fransisco instead of LA? Also, when is the best time to book for a trip like this? Will I likely find a last-minute deal, or will these rates generally go up until the last second before takeoff?
Please let me know when you have a second
Cheers!

If it's a viable option for you, consider flying out of Buffalo.

Check out prices to Long Beach on JetBlue, for example, which I'm sure will be cheaper than prices to LAX from Toronto.

There is a fare sale by AC today for $133 o/w base fare. You are unlikely to find anything lower than this (other than the $49 sale a while ago):

Discounters that want cheap fares from YYZ will generally drive to BUF. The low-cost carrier Westjet does not fly YYZ-LAX.

The drive from LAX to SFO is long. Not worth considering. The drive from YYZ to BUF, however, is about 1.5h along the QEW to Niagara Falls.

That is incorrect. Westjet does fly YYZ-LAX.

Is that a recent change? I recall them discontinuing that service... requiring YYZ-YYC-LAX.

Edit: apparently the non-stop service starts in mid-December. So we're both right. :)

Thanks for your help! I've thought about flying out of Buffalo (I actually found a flight for a friend of mine last March that was $99 +txs= apx $150 from BUF-LAX), but from what I've seen lately, there's only about a $60 difference and when taking into account traveling time and cost to Buffalo, it doesn't seem worth it.
Just one last question though- when is the ideal time to book for a late-January flight? Would I have to do it soon or do you think there's a good chance of getting a last-minute deal?
Thanks!

This included pricing to, say, ONT? There are many airports around Los Angeles that can be used for cheaper flights; of course, time is money too.

I believe the LAX area is covered by ONT, SNA, BUR, and LAX?
