Asia - Can I transit Luang Prabang Laos without a visa?

I'm about to book the last ticket I need for an upcoming trip to Asia.
I'm going form Siem Reap (REP) to Hanoi (HAN). Vietnam Airlines has 4 flights a day... 3 non-stop in the evening and a 1-stop mid-day departure that has a short stop in Luang Prabang (LPQ). The mid-day one stop is a more preferable time for me and is my first choice.
Are there any FT'ers out there that can confirm that I can transit LPQ without a visa?
I know I can get a visa on arrival in LPQ, but I don't want the hassle and expense of visas just to transit the airport.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

I'm not going to claim this is 100% certain but you'll most likely remain on the a/c at LPQ during the stop.
