Hi all,

I have heard from other entire site about SQ will inaugurates new nonstop from SIN-YYZ in 2008. I didn't noticed know SQ put on orders new 772LR while ago. Is that a rumored coming true from SQ? I am not even sure which specific dates from SQ will inaugurates from SIN-YYZ in 2008 or 2009. If you have anything more questionable for me and thanks! :)

It's a RUMOUR.

Until its in fine print somewhere, I wouldn't fret too much over it.

Or a codeshare with AC who will be getting 777-200LR next year?

AC has no plans to fly their metal to SIN yet.

True but at least AC are getting the aircraft while SQ have repeatedly announced that they have no plans to acquire the Boeing. If SQ announced that they have ordered the aircraft there really is no way Boeing could build it in under a year.
I think that if SQ wish to continue ULH flights they will either go with an unannounced 787 variant or with the announced Airbus A350-900R that should be more economical than their existing A340-500 aircraft.

You mean "again"?

AC flew YYZ-LHR-BOM-SIN in the mid 80's. I remember flying that route many times! On an ageing L1011-500 aircraft though.

SQ will not be ordering 777-200LRs. The time when that would have made sense is past.

It appears that SQ will begin operating daily nonstop service to YVR using 777-200ERs, replacing the 3x weekly service via ICN. It will be interesting to see what SQ do with the ICN rights. ORD?

How do you think SIA will operate daily services to YVR given the current ASA or do you know something we don't?

How do you think SIA will operate daily services to YVR given the current ASA or do you know something we don't?

From what I've read, the new ASA effectively allows SQ to fly as often as it likes between SIN and Canada... only (and presumably at the behest of AC) it is not allowed to pick up pax anywhere, except the current arrangement of 3x wkly in ICN (or a handful of alternative stopping points, I think)

Now, herein lies the problem. Not enough people want to fly from YVR-SIN or the beyond points. Well, not at high yielding fares at any rate. YVR-NRT just about works, YVR-HKG definitely, but YVR-SIN? I'd bet there are less than a dozen O&D full fare biz pax a day that want to do this route, beyond points included

So, until either (a) Canada allows SQ some fifth freedom rights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedoms_of_the_air#Fifth_freedom) (ha, like AC will let this happen!) or (b) Boeing or Airbus invent some super economical, ultra long range small twin (like a 787, but with Even Better economics and Even More range), you can wish SIN-YVR all you want... It ain't happening!

If they are insistent that loads for YVR must via 3rd country for substantial loads, I would imagine they would at least keep the 3x weekly via ICN and do another 4x weekly nonstop. Considering how they have been vocal about the 5th freedom issue, hard to imagine they would abandon the 3x ICN and go with a daily nonstop. Are they perhaps seeing things differently now?

It's uneconomical for SIA to operate nonstop to YVR though. SIA passengers will have to put up with 3x.

I am crossing my fingers for SQ flights ORD-ICN-SIN.

Apparently the person who initially posted the rumor has recently just posted a tentative schedule from which he claimed he received from the SIA representatives he met that gave out this rumor.

Well, I expect fares to Toronto to be more expensive than to JFK, even though it's a shorter distance -- polar route. Perhaps by 800 miles or so?

That might make it substainable, at least if prices don't drop.

Where do you get the idea YYZ will be more expensive than JFK? Premium fares to international destinations are way pricier ex-NYC than ex-YTO for most airlines flying to both cities.

Yes, AC just received more 772LR has been delivered to AC yesterday. I am not sure if SQ will acquired more 772LR is coming in 2008. It was just a rumors from SQ will inaugurates new routes from SIN-YYZ. I meant it is getting inexpensive for high-fare by SQ.

If SIN-YVR nonstop is happening I would speculate the following are passengers that SQ is possibly trying to get

1) India-SIN-YVR
2) Western Australia - SIN - YVR
3) SIN- YVR - Eastern US (codeshare with AC)

No, I don't think SQ can do that connects the point beyond in SIN. SQ is already flies from SIN-TPE or ICN-YVR awhile. I am not have a logical from SQ this time. You will able give little more extra times. Meanwhile SQ is still a rumors for searching more new 772LR is being coming. I am not sure if SQ will acquired 772LR from Boeing.

Nothing to do with East Coast US. The only flight AC has to eastern US from YVR directly is to JFK, a market SQ already serves.

So was this just a nasty rumour or the "new" route has died of natural causes?

I did that route with nasty service, and was given only curry to eat telling me that all other meals have finished.

I hope that next year for my trip to the other side of the planet they fly out of Toronto. Preferably without a stop, but hey I will welcome a fuel stop if it means I can fly out of Toronto; afterall beggars can't be choosers. I don't like having to fly across to Vancouver from Montreal or Ottawa (4-5 hour flight) just to make that connection. I did have a gay ole time this year with flying in and out of the Eastern Seaboard (EWR)...so much better :)..but now..no more EE :( oh well
