Hello folks. I have only flown with Korean Air once before, but in Economy. In December, I will be flying for the first time in Business Class Internationally. What is the suggested attire? I was thinking something along the lines of dress shoes, khakhi pants buttondown shirt and a smart looking sweater. Does this seem like an ok choice of dress? ^

Hanbok!! :)
I wouldn't worry to much, what you suggest would make you one of the better-dressed people in the cabin. It would be important that your clothes and shoes were comfortable such that you could sleep... assuming your international trip is long and sleep is desired.
Have a great trip!

At the risk of sounding far older than my years...
Does anyone else miss the days when flying was a BIG DEAL and you got dressed up to get on the plane?
When I was young(er!), I remember being told to put on my "Sunday Clothes" because we were going to see Grandma and Grandpa in California... and we were flying economy. :p
I'm glad I DON'T have to dress up now, but I remember when flying was seen by all as a great priviledge and you were treated (even in economy) as though you were the greatest person on earth simply because you were on the plane. (I can't even imagine how F got treated :D)
Ah, the good old days. ;)
At the risk of sounding far older than my years...
My first flight was in 1972 in the days before deregulation and I certainly never dressed up then... so that must have been back in the 1950's or 1960's, right?

LOL! No quite. Actually, not even close!:D
Seriously, I think it was such a big deal for us simply because we lived well below the poverty level at the time and spending that kind of money on ANYTHING short of a real estate was pretty big news for us.
OK, so maybe those good ol' days weren't so good that I'd volunteer to repeat them... and I'm guessing that my memories of them are a bit shinier with the years.

I can't say that I really miss those days but I certainly remember them. Flying was such a rare experience for my family and usually coincided with a big holiday so we always dressed up for our flights.
I will say that on US domestic routes some of the things people wear are absolutely ridiculous. I don't advocate a 3 piece suit for travel, but flying while looking like a slob or like you just left a gangsta convention makes me cringe.

Hey Bimmer! Have a safe trip to Taiwan and back to LAX! I hope that you enjoyed The Land of the Morning Calm! Did you do a pojangmacha? :D
I wouldn't worry about dressing up on Korean Air. I flew them in C with shorts and a Hawaiian flower shirt.... to Beijing..... in January.
Eat the bibimbap!;)^

I think a kimono, bow tie and cowboy boots would be your best bet.

Rubbish! I always suspected something was wrong. Indeed, KE do have a first class, and the F pax may be offended if you turn up dressed in a manner that would belong to a higher class of service.
Please ignore my previous recommendation. Appropriate attire for business in a 3-class service would be a combination of bikini, cossack hat, gloves, sandals and nylon socks.

This is an extremely obsolete way of looking at fashion trends. The bikini-wearing man is happy in his masculinity and doesn't have to wear items with subconscious phallic references like ties to assert it. ;)

It worked for me. :D Otherwise, I have no idea. Buy a full fair Biz ticket, perhaps? Be a Platinum Skyteam elite? Your guess is as good as mine.

One round trip from JFK-ICN, onward to HKG, in clean carpenter jeans (what I normally wear to work or cargo pants) with a collared shirt and a sport coat with a beaten up photo back pack. One flight out of DFW to ICN, onward to HKG, in carpenter jeans, clean button up shirt which I had the FA hang up before the flight and a black hooded sweat shirt and a cleaner smaller less abused photo backpack.
I received the same excellent service in both styles or clothing and both photo backpacks :D
Don't worry about it. Dress as you normally would and you'll be comfortable.
Remember they keep the cabin at 95f/35c , so don't bundle up!

:confused:Ok. I've looked into the fare coding of my ticket.. it seems TPE to ICN is in C (C=Old Prestige class seats).. but then ICN to LAX is coded in J (as per their flight timetable J=Prestige Plus new seats).. Someone mentioned about buying a J and getting op-ed up to F. Why and how come? what was the basis behind it? was C overbooked or something:confused:

My first flight was around '72 also. We DID gussy up for the short MOB-MSY flight on National Airlines. Man, that 727 was HUGE (to an 8 year-old). The whole reason for the flight was because I was such a plane nut, even then...
