I call it fraud....

LH call centers insist on repricing of C-Class tickets after rebooking...

When it happened the first time to me I understood it as a mistake. However, there is method in it: When rebooking unused cupons of a full fare domestic C Class ticket within the validity of the ticket (one year) they now insist on charging the higher YQ surcharge and make a pain out of recalculating it and charge an extra 4 Euro.

Any reference to the fare rules ("rebooking free of charge") were in vain, the agents had clear instructions. I have filed an angry complaint - it is not only the 4 Euro, but this procedure took 15 minutes...

I was recently on a full fare DUS-MUC-NUE-FRA-DUS C ticket and the fare rules on LH.com stated that the ticket was non-refundable and not rebookable.
I put this down to an LH.com IT bug at the time.

I donīt understand, why they will do this. It is only a rebooking and not a reissue from a ticket. I think, this makes the difference !!

Interesting...I saw that - and know the reason. After using "Search by schedule for travel dates and times", there will be a tick mark under the flight options stating "Click for flexible conditions". If you do not check this, the far rules will say "The fare that you have selected is non refundable (except the unused taxes and fees) and can not or only with restrictions be rebooked/cancelled." even on a completely flexible fare.

I call it fraud....I don't care if it is fraud or not. If I have fully flex C ticket, I want to be able to go to the check-in counter and get on any flight that is not sold out. If they make me go to the ticket counter, what is the incentive for buying fully flexible tickets?

So, if this happened to me, it would lower my incentive to get fully flexible tickets in the future.

Use the QKCI kiosk, that thing can rebook you onto a later/earlier flight within a 24h window. Done it on rebookable C and YFLEX tickets.

However, even the IATA rule they are referring to has been changed a couple of years back.:eek:

This will get you into an interesting discussion. Please keep us posted about the outcome. You are standing at the entrance of the LH jungle tour, a trip without return.:D Most likely Mr. Fersemann's KGB troops are involved. If you can, check for internal remarks in your booking. They are normally LH eyes only, but a TA can see there is something, without being able to read it.

Have you bought some strange fares lately or harassed the LH gods in some other ways? They seem to be watching you....

Most of the time, you won't encounter this set of new rules due to the fact that those fares that allow for free rebooking do not change as frequently, hence there is no difference in fares to be collected.

Also, it seems to me that LH was a bit slow to train their agents on the new set of rules, so in many cases, the agent would simply change the ticket as if the rules had not been changed.

And then, there is always the issue with tickets originally issued under the "old" set of rules...

Rule of thumb: if holding a ticket issued from 01JUN07 onwards, expect a full re-price if you change your ticket before travel starts.

If there is no difference in fare, good for you. If there is a difference in fare, and the agent forgets about it (or has not been trained properly), good for you. If there is a difference in fare and you are asked to pay up, that's the way it *should* be, so no grounds to complain.

With a full fare ticket, I want to be able to go to check in and get on any flight on the route bought as long as there is a seat left. If LH think it is worth it to piss off their highest-paying passengers in order to collect 4 Euros, they should think again.

I've found this old thread searching for a clarification about this issue.
I bought a C Flex ticket on LH. When I wanted to change the return leg the agent told me he needs to reprice my ticket and there is a huge difference between his fare and the fare I paid.
So.... what C Flex ticket actually stands for?? Is it reasonable repricing a business flexible ticket after departure? Is he wrong?

For a real "full flex" ticket you need to have a ticket without restrictions and in the highest existing fare bucket within your COS. I don't know about the restrictions of your fare but "C" isn't the highest booking class for a C-cabin ticket any longer. This now is "J".
Think of "B" for the Y cabin. There are B-flex fares without restrictions but if only "Y" is open you are SOL.

That's true. But Im just saying that is not totally fair to choose "Business Flex" over "Business Basic Plus" and not having flexibility at all (only difference is cancellation without a fee).
