Hilton HHonors - Westin Stamford CT Soon to be a Hilton

I am currently at the Stamford Westin and was told that very shortly it will be moving over to the Hilton family. They are undergoing a complete renovation and as soon as it's done (or possibly before) it will be flying the Hilton family flag. This is a pretty nice property, close to the Amtrak train station and just off Rt 95 (exit 7), and as an SPG Plat, I'm really going to miss it as my company's preferred hotels are Starwood:(

That's probably the only chain that hotel has not been at one point or another.

Except for the Marriott, the Stamford properties just don't hold their brand.

Nice hotel, but a horrible horrible area. Use to live in Stamford, and hated going down there.

stamford is alright...the westin is located in the ghetto part of town...rather stay at the sheraton.

That hotel actually does a fair number of conferences and conventions, cat shows, etc. There's plenty of corporate offices near by, it's too expensive to stay in Greenwich, the only hotel in Darien is a Howard Johnsons, so the Stamford places actually serve a large area.

Every now and then you hear of somebody wanting to stay in Manhattan, can't afford it, and stays there or the Marriott and trains back and forth.
